Louisville Metro Council Holiday Food Drive - please donate through December 5 at various locations

Council Food Drive

This holiday season, the Louisville Metro Council is calling on the community to come together and make a difference by donating food and essential items to those in need.

Through a city-wide donation initiative, the Council is partnering with the Association of Community Ministries (ACM) to address food insecurity and support families across Louisville.

The donation drive started Monday, November 11, and runs through Thursday, December 5, with donations being distributed to ACM and shared equally among the thirteen community ministries serving the city.

The most needed items are canned proteins (beef stew, canned chicken/tuna, and hearty soups), tomato sauce, canned fruit, jelly, and cereal. ACM will also be accepting household items including shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper, menstruation products, etc.

“This marks the second year that the Metro Council has organized a city-wide food donation drive to support those in need during the holiday season,” said President Markus Winkler (D-17). “I encourage residents to keep this effort in mind while shopping for food this season. By adding an extra can of soup, a packet of tuna, or a household item to your shopping basket, we can collectively ensure that families are well-stocked this winter. With numerous collection locations throughout the city, contributing is convenient.”

Donations can be made online at: www.louisvilleministries.org/.
