St. Joe's Picnic for the Kids is Friday and Saturday

St. Joseph Children’s Home celebrates its 175th anniversary with the annual St. Joe’s Picnic for the Kids on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10. The nonprofit organization provides compassionate care to ensure a safe home and bright future for every child in Kentucky.

Presented by Arby’s Foundation, this year’s picnic and will be held at the St. Joseph Children’s Home campus, located at 2823 Frankfort Avenue. The event is free and family-friendly, featuring carnival and casino games, food and drink vendors, raffle items, kids’ carnival area, and cake booth.

“Mark your calendars and make sure to drop by either Friday or Saturday. There’s something fun for everyone in the family to enjoy, and all proceeds will benefit St. Joe’s. Every spin of the cake wheel, raffle ticket purchased, and prize won makes a meaningful difference for a child in need,” said Councilman Owen.

The picnic hours are Friday, August 9, from 5 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, August 10, from noon to midnight. On Friday, enjoy live music by Back 2 Mac – A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac band. Saturday will feature all-day live music with bands including Louisville Bluegrass Band, Scene 7, Johnny Berry, Famous on Friday, and RearView Mirror. Free onsite parking is available, with free shuttle service on Saturday from the overflow lot at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary parking lot off Grinstead Drive.

On Saturday night, there is a curfew for youth aged 17 and younger beginning at 8 p.m. Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Tickets will be available for pick-up at the will-call (informational booth) during the picnic. The deadline to pre-purchase is 5 p.m. on August 8. You may also purchase tickets during the event.

Paving project in D-10 planned for next week

Goldsmith Lane is scheduled for paving from Bardstown Road to Stratford Avenue during the week of August 12. 

Schedule delays may occur due to weather or other unforeseen issues. Various lane closures and other impacts will be ongoing during these improvements. Please slow down and use caution in the area.
