Those of you who have watched MetroTV over the years have probably done so on Spectrum Cable channel 184 for the purpose of catching a Metro Council meeting, budget hearing, or maybe a press conference on something in which you were interested. MetroTV has now broadened its availability to include the options shown above. Not only that, its programming has expanded, too. Current shows include:
- ‘Louisville This Week’ – a weekly news magazine
- ‘alDia en Louisville’ – a Spanish language talk show hosted by Jose Donis
- ‘Uniquely Louisville’ – spotlighting the people, places, and events that make our city special
- ‘Park it Here’ – stories about our great park system
- ‘Family Friendly Foods’ – for those who want ideas on feeding their family (who couldn't use more ideas for dinner!), and
- ‘Metro Council Chronicles’ – members of the Metro Council take you through special places and events in their districts
If you haven't checked MetroTV out recently, I invite you to give it a try. There's a good chance you'll find something you like!
Each week, the Metro Office of Planning creates a report listing all new land use applications in Jefferson County. These requests typically include changes in zoning, variances, conditional use permits, and more. There are two cases in this week's report involving property in District 17. One is a request for a conditional use permit to allow a short-term rental in a non-primary residence at 4528 Shenandoah Drive. The other is a waiver of Section 4.4.8.C. of the Land Development Code to allow items at Home Depot on Westport Road to be stacked up to six feet high within three feet of the building. Please contact the case manager listed in the report with any questions or comments.
Looking to foster or adopt a pet? Louisville Metro Animal Services may have what you're looking for with close to 500 dogs/cats available. When you adopt a pet from the Animal House Adoption Center, the adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, a microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations. If you choose a dog weighing more than 40 pounds or a cat older than six months, adoption fees are waived. To search adoptable pets (like Harrison above) or learn more about the process, click here.
The Office of Resilience and Community Services gave out more than 200 fans this past Saturday to help citizens stay cool and safe this summer. If you missed the event, you can still pick up a fan if you are 60 or older or have a documented disability. Starting June 17, call the Charmoli Center Neighborhood Place at 574-5787 to check on fan availability and instructions on picking one up. For more information, click here to contact Office of Aging and Disabled Citizens Coordinator Alli Woosley.
