Mayor's recommended budget for Fiscal Year  2024-2025

  • $1.1 billion dollar budget
  • Recommended budget invests in people and priorities
  • No new taxes proposed in the budget
  • New listing of Long-term plan for capital projects

General

  • Projected revenues are up about four percent
  • Capital Investments:
    • $15 million for the Belvedere
    • $1 million for Waterfront Botanical Gardens’ Japanese Garden
    • $1 million for the Kentucky College of Art and Design
    • $32 million total for Affordable Housing
      • Bonded $15 million to AHTF

Public Safety

  • Overall, 8.5 percent increase to LMPD budget for new contract
    • $375k set aside for consent decree Independent Monitor
  • Future investments in fire departments - two old firehouses need replacing.
    • This year, Fire - $800k for general repairs, and $250 for tech search and rescue gear.
  • $238,000 to Dosker Manor for urgent needs like pest control.
  • $5 million for Early Childhood Education - Thrive By 5

Quality of Life Investments

  • $22 million for Street Paving
    • $40+ million in total Public Works investments like guardrail replacement and traffic calming
  • New Park Ranger program
  • A new Economic Development Authority - budget provides some initial funding for the creation of the Authority.
