Greetings District 16 friends and neighbors,
This Thursday, I was honored to recognize Tawana Bain, a resident of District 16 before the Louisville Metro Council as our 2024 Black History Award recipient. Tawana is a key Louisville community and business leader. Her guidance has been instrumental to the success of three companies in our community; American Clean Resources Group, Today’s Woman, and Black Jockey’s Lounge. In an interview with Today’s Woman, she explained that aspiring female entrepreneurs, “need women whose shoulders they can stand on.”. In addition to forging a strong career, I can attest that she has also supported those around her. She is a steadfast advocate for female entrepreneurs of all backgrounds. Please join me in honoring her great service to Louisville.

Thank you to everyone who attended last Saturday's Café Louie at St. Matthews Library. We had one of the biggest turn outs I have ever seen. It is great to see so many people who are passionate about their local government.

A Message from Major Wampler...
We are starting to see some signs of early spring sprinkled into the winter weather which has been a nice break from the cold temperatures. With these warm evenings we recently saw an increase in car thefts and theft from autos. Most of these incidents involved vehicles which were left unlocked. There were groups of suspects driving through residential areas checking door handles for unlocked vehicles. They would steal any valuables they found in unlocked vehicles and the vehicle if keys were left inside it.
Please make a habit of not leaving valuables or keys in your vehicles and locking your doors even if you are parked in your garage. Taking these steps will greatly reduce the chances of your property being taken by a thief. Our officers and detectives have been working to identify those responsible and have made some arrests. Even though we make an arrest there are still other thieves who will take their place so we all need to remain vigilant.
