Dear Neighbor:
We are writing to invite you to a follow-up neighborhood meeting to the one we held October 6th of last year (2022). The northern 23 acres and the rezoning of the southern R-R portion of the property to R-4 and corresponding Floyds Fork Development Review Overlay (“FFDRO”) previously proposed in 2022 are not part of this proposed development. This follow-up meeting is to present our revised MRDI subdivision plan. In the 71.44 ± acre R-4 portion of the site, this plan would provide 148 single family residential lots and 80 townhome units with 39.01 ± acres of open space. Accordingly, we will soon be filing an application for review with Planning and Design Services (PDS) that will be assigned a case number and a case manager.
We would like to show and explain this plan so that we might hear what thoughts, issues and concerns you may have. In that regard, a meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 beginning at 6:30 pm at the First Baptist Church, Eastwood in the Multipurpose Building located at 16122 Eastwood Cut Off Road, Louisville, KY (Park in the upper parking via the frontage road that runs in front of the church. Louisville Ballet and the Louisville Free Public Library are excited to announce the return of Nutcracker Family Storytimes to seven library locations in November. The annual tradition kicks off on Tuesday, November 14, 6:30 p.m., at the St. Matthews Library (3940 Grandview Ave).
Children of all ages and their families are invited to join Louisville Ballet dancers for readings of the classic holiday story The Nutcracker, followed by Nutcracker-inspired dancing and crafts. In addition, every family at each storytime can enter for a chance to win four tickets to see Louisville Ballet’s upcoming production of The Brown-Forman Nutcracker.

While Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales can be a great way to score deals on gifts and big-ticket items, potential scammers and thieves will try to take advantage of unsuspecting shoppers. Keep the following advice in mind as you plan your holiday shopping this year:

Keep your purse insight and your wallet in your front pocket.

Take only one credit card with you. If your wallet gets stolen or misplaced, you’ll only need to cancel one card. Avoid carrying a lot of cash. Put your credit card back after every purchase.

Create a shopping list & set a budget. Avoid getting caught up in the Friday frenzy. If you spot a great deal before Black Friday, buy it.

Try not to grab more than you can carry. Chances are you’ll forget your wallet or purse or be unable to stop a thief from snatching it.

Have your keys in hand as you approach your vehicle. Make sure you check both around the vehicle and the back seats before getting into the car.

Don’t leave store bags or other valuables visible in the vehicle while you are shopping. Lock them in the trunk or take them home after buying them.

Research. Read product reviews, check our website for Business Profiles, look at the sales flyers and ads, compare prices, and look for early promotions and “flash-sales.”

Always ask for a gift receipt. This way, the recipient can return or exchange a gift if it’s not just right.

Protect your computer. A computer should always have the most recent updates installed for spam filters, anti-virus and anti-spyware software and a secure firewall.

Protect your personal information. Take time to read the site’s privacy policy and understand what personal information is being requested and how it will be used. If there isn’t one posted, it should be taken as a red flag that personal information may be sold to others without permission.

Have a secure mobile device. While online shopping, be sure you're using the most recently updated version of apps and operating systems on the phone. Also, actively manage your location services, Bluetooth, microphone, and camera, and make sure apps use them appropriately. Avoid using public Wi-Fi while viewing sensitive information. Public Wi-Fi is vulnerable to thieves and fraudsters looking to steal your info. When in stores or restaurants, avoid using banking or other apps that access sensitive personal information.

Watch out for fake customer reviews. Fake reviews are rampant on many retail sites. Look for repeating or duplicate customer reviews on sites that offer products sold by third parties.

All donations will be provided to the Association of Community Ministries to be divided evenly amongst the 13 Area Community Ministries.

Greater Jeffersontown Historical Society Meeting December 6
Monday, December 4, 2023. The meeting will be held at 1:00 P.M. at the Jeffersontown Branch Library, 10635 Watterson Trail. Program: The Floyds of Jefferson County/Jeffersontown and the Excavation of the Nathaniel Floyd homestead.

With one week left in the campaign, nearly 7,000 more wreaths are needed to ensure all veterans graves at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery are honored.
Louisville, KY – The good news is nearly 4,500 wreaths have been purchased to be placed on veterans’ graves at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery this year. The bad news is that nearly 7,000 more are needed. And the deadline to sponsor a wreath is only one week away.
November 28 is the final day wreaths can be purchased to ensure they are created, shipped and placed on graves during a December 16th ceremony. Since there are more than 11,300 graves at Zachary Taylor, the campaign is only at 40% of its goal.
“While we are extremely grateful that so many people have already supported this cause, it is always painful to see graves that will not receive a wreath,” said Dr. Scott Giltner, location coordinator, Gov. Isaac Shelby Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. “The wreaths are not to ‘decorate’ the graves of our veterans. We place them to remember not their deaths, but their lives. Each wreath is a gift of appreciation from a grateful America.”
“All of the wreaths placed on the graves at Zachary Taylor come from donations,” said Susan Kalmey Co-location coordinator, Corn Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. “There is no government support. We rely on private and corporate donations to make this happen. And especially now, we need everyone’s involvement this year to make it a reality.”
“With community support, we can still reach that lofty goal of 11,300 wreaths, added Doug Carroll, owner of Brownsboro Hardware & Paint and one of the businesses involved in the program. “I challenge every business, every club and organization and every church to adopt this campaign as a mission.”
A wreath can be sponsored for $17, either online at LouKYWreaths.org or in person at either Brownsboro Hardware & Paint location.
The live Maine Balsam Wreaths will be placed during an official ceremony at Zachary Taylor on Saturday, December 16 at 12:00 noon. The public is invited to attend and participate.
Wreaths Across America is a national organization which started in 2007. Its mission: Remember the fallen. Honor those that serve. And Teach the next generation about the value of freedom. During the holidays many of us enjoy the hustle and bustle of the shopping and the excitement the season brings. Unfortunately, there are many children in our community who would not receive gifts. Every December, the Louisville Metro Police Foundation partners with LMPD to host the “Shop with a Cop” program. This makes a huge difference in the lives of many children across our community.
The eight police divisions of LMPD invite dozens of children in need to a holiday party like no other, providing each child with winter clothes and toys. For many, these gifts will be the only ones they receive.
To help fund this crucial endeavor, we’re asking for your financial support. Help us help the less fortunate children in our city, and together we can make a safer, happier Louisville.
