+ Safety plan, road closings in place for Thunder Over Louisville this weekend
Thunder Over Louisville is this weekend, and for police and emergency personnel, it’s all hands on deck.
Thunder Over Louisville is one of the nation's top air shows and largest fireworks displays. Each year, it helps kick-off the 2022 Kentucky Derby Festival. After dark, prepare for the Thunder as the 33rd annual pyrotechnic spectacular explodes to a sensational soundtrack in front of hundreds of thousands of our friends that come in from all across the country.
The 2022 Thunder Air Show will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the United States Air Force with a packed line-up of military and civilian aircraft. Scheduled performances include the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo, U.S. Air Force C-17 Demo, U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight, the Kentucky Air National Guard 123rd Airlift Wing with the new C-130J, and the Commemorative Air Force’s B-29, B-24, and B-25, as well as the U.S. Navy E/A-18 Growler Demo with a Legacy Flight, Younkin Airshows, and many more.

+ Mayor Fischer creates task force to help develop Commission on Gender Equity
“Women make up more than of half of our city’s population, and drive the success of our city and its residents,” Mayor Fischer said. “While strides have been made, women in our community still face challenges, including in economic, public safety and other areas. This commission will work to reduce those barriers and ensure policies advance our goals for a more equitable Louisville.”
“We are announcing this at the end of Women’s History Month to signify that gender equity is a priority every day,” said Gretchen Hunt, Executive Administrator of the Office for Women. “We want to work with the community to make sure we prioritize the needs and experiences of women who have been historically marginalized.”
The first public meeting is scheduled for April 27 at 7 p.m. at the Southwest Library. Virtual meetings will also be available.
