Metro Planning and Design Services (PDS) creates a weekly report of all new planning/land use applications in Louisville. These applications can include landscape plans, sign permits, variances, changes in zoning, and more. There is one District 17 case in this week's report, a request to shift a building limit line on property located on Anoka Court. The case managers for each case are listed in the report if you have any questions or comments.

Meadow Vale Mayor Mary Hornek was honored with the Peyton Hoge III Public Service Award at last night's annual meeting of the Jefferson County League of Cities. Mayor Hornek has served as mayor of Meadow Vale since 2012 and was a city commissioner for two years prior. My office has worked with Mayor Hornek on multiple occasions. I can tell you she cares a great deal about her city and our community and this honor is well deserved. Congratulations, Mayor Hornek!
Last night was also a reminder for me how important it is for people like Mayor Hornek to serve in these roles. Suburban city mayors and commissioners, HOA presidents and board members, condominium association board members - those who fill these roles spend countless hours (typically with little or no fanfare) doing their part to make our community clean, safe, and successful. For all of you who have served in this way or are currently serving - thank you!
The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be held tomorrow at E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. with the men's race to follow around noon. There will be a total of 64 teams competing which will make it a little more difficult to find a place to eat tonight and mean more vehicles in the vicinity until the races are complete.
As we near Thanksgiving, MSD would like to remind everyone about the dangers that fats, oil, and grease (FOG) pose to the pipes in our homes and to our sewer system. Please take an extra minute or two to properly dispose of these items after your Thanksgiving meal. There are things you can do year-round as well to protect your own plumbing and ensure safe, clean waterways for everyone. Click here for tips and more information.
