Friday Thoughts

Happy Oaks Day and Derby weekend! Whether you are going to the races, watching from home, or have other plans, I hope you enjoy what should be a beautiful weekend.

This was a rather quiet week in City Hall as most committee meetings were canceled. The Council's Planning & Zoning Committee did meet on Tuesday and began consideration of a proposed development on Rollington Road. This case was tabled to allow for further discussion and is scheduled to be brought up again in committee on May 11.

Next week will not be so quiet as we begin hearings on the mayor's recommended budget. The schedule for next week is below:

  • Revenue, Operations, Capital, and Debt (Monday from 3-5 p.m.)
  • Human Resources (Monday from 5-6 p.m.)
  • Internal Audit (Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 p.m.)
  • Mayor’s Office (Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m.)
  • Metro Council (Tuesday from 6:30-7 p.m.)
  • Facilities and Fleet (Wednesday from 3-5 p.m.)
  • External Agencies (Wednesday from 5-6 p.m.)

If you have ideas on how this budget should look, please sign up to speak at one of the public hearings or call/email my office.

Finally, please consider getting vaccinated if you haven't already. As of Tuesday, 31.6% of Louisville residents have completed the vaccine series, so we are making great progress. I have said this many times, but I think it's worth repeating - the more that get vaccinated, the sooner we can get back to some sense of normalcy. Click here to register or for more information.

As always, please call or email my office if I can be of assistance in any way.

Public Hearing - 13501 Factory Lane

Factory

The Land Development and Transportation Committee, a subcommittee of the Planning Commission, will consider revisions to binding elements to change roadway improvement requirements on a previously approved project at 13501 Factory Lane. The initial plan called for a turn lane along the property's frontage, though acquiring the necessary right-of-way has proven difficult. The applicant is asking that the turn lane not be required immediately and a binding element be added requiring a contribution to Factory Lane improvements. Please contact Jay Luckett at jay.luckett@louisvilleky.gov with any questions or comments.
