Kenny Machtolff, 1932-2020
Louisville and our District 10 community lost a great citizen, Ken Machtolff, on February 16.
"I appreciated Ken’s eclectic interests from clocks to coins to our environment and a strong advocacy to improve our community," Councilman Mulvihill said. "Ken definitely left our world a better place than he found it."
Machtolff was 88. A 1949 graduate of Valley High School, he went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the military, he earned his commercial pilot's license and served as an aircraft mechanic, including Chief Aircraft Maintenance Officer for Humana leadership.
He was an advocate for Camp Zachary Taylor and efforts to memorialize it. He was a member of the District 10 Advisory Board and a board member of the Louisville Nature Center, and had served the community as a volunteer fireman in the '60s and '70s.
Kenny was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Tillie Smith Machtolff; granddaughter Bailey Marie Swett and son-in-law Brian Swett.
