Please join myself and LMPD 3rd Division officers and commanders for the LMPD 3rd Division Annual Block Watch Captains Meeting tomorrow, November 3rd at 6:30pm at the Southwest Government Center (7219 Dixie Highway). This meeting will include Lt. Brown and Renee Stigall from the Chief’s Office, members of the Metro Narcotics Meth Lab team, and 3rd Division Detectives and Officers. Home Depot will be offering basic home security items as door prizes and sandwiches and drinks will be provided. Please take advantage of this opportunity to learn about how to start a Block Watch or how to make an existing Block Watch more effective.

Please join us Saturday, November 5th at 9:00am for the 4th annual Race to End Homelessness 5K. Race, walk or meander Cherokee Park's Scenic Loop to help kick off National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week.
Please join me in remembering and honoring Fairdale’s Veterans at the 12th annual Veteran's Ceremony hosted by retired SFC George T. Daniels. The ceremony will be held on Sunday November 6, 2011 at 1:30 (1330 hrs) in front of Fairdale High School. This is located off National Turnpike on Fairdale Road.
The main speaker this year is Sherman Kallin. This year Deacon Mike Tolbert of St. Thomas More and Our Lady of Mount Carmel will lead

the opening prayer. The Sons of The American Revolution Color Guard will post the American Flag. Then Boy Scout Troop 262 will post the Fairdale Flag. Barbara Polk will sing The National Anthem accompanied by the Fairdale High School Band. She will also sing the Fairdale High Fight song. The LIHEAP Subsidy Program begins Monday, November 7, 2011. LIHEAP, the Low income Home Energy Assistance Program, helps income eligible residents of Jefferson County with their utility bills. Appointments are required to apply for this program and are being issued in person only. Beginning November 2-4, 2011, between 7 am – 4 pm, appointments can be made at the CAP office at the Urban Government Center only located at 810 Barret Avenue, Room 127.
Applicants need to bring the following documents when scheduling an appointment:
1) Picture ID
2) Most recent heating bill or verification from landlord, stating heating expenses included in rent.
Starting November 7, 2011, appointments will be scheduled at all three CAP offices daily from 8am to 5pm (no Friday appointments at the East Office), based on appointment availability. The LIHEAP offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 for Election Day.
