Carmel ranks No. 1 'Best Small City in America'
Carmel (No. 1), Westfield (No. 5), and Fishers (No. 6) have once again secured spots in the top 10 of WalletHub's annual study of the "Best Small Cities in America." The study included over 1,300 cities and evaluates livability based on 45 key metrics across five criteria: Affordability, Economic Health, Education and Health, Quality of Life, and Safety.

Countdown to the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup
The World Aquatics Swimming World Cup is a premier international series where some of the fastest swimmers in the world compete across multiple cities for points, prestige, and a chance to qualify for the World Championships and Olympic Games. These events showcase the very best in the sport — bringing together elite athletes, thrilling races and unforgettable moments for fans of all ages.

OneZone Chamber to host 2025 State of the City
OneZone Chamber will again host the Carmel State of the City featuring Mayor Sue Finkam, presented by Ascension St. Vincent on Monday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. at the Payne & Mencias Palladium. This annual event brings together businesses, community leaders, residents and City team members to hear updates on Carmel's vision for the future.

What a summer it was! We had an incredible time celebrating with you across Carmel.
We want to give a huge thank you to everyone—our staff, partners and volunteers—for the incredible amount of creativity and energy poured into making this season's festivals and events so vibrant.

The City of Carmel is proud to partner every year with the Carmel International Arts Festival (CIAF) whose mission is Educating the Community Through the Arts. This year's festival once again brought artists and visitors from around the world.

MONDAY, OCT. 6 CLOSURES
Please be advised that the City of Carmel will begin three road closures starting Monday, Oct. 6 to facilitate essential infrastructure improvements.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to enhance our City's infrastructure. Please allow extra time for your commute or seek alternative routes.
MONON GREENWAY AT CITY CENTER DRIVE Beginning Monday, Oct. 6 through Oct. 31, Phase 3 of the Monon Boulevard expansion requires the closure of the Monon Trail at the tunnel under City Center Drive.
1ST AVENUE NW
1st Avenue NW will be closed to through traffic for utility work. The posted detour route utilizes 2nd Street NW, Range Line Road and 3rd Street NW. This closure will take place during daytime work hours and will reopen in the evening. Work is expected to last two days.

105TH STREET
Starting Monday, Oct. 6, 105th Street between Cornell Avenue and McPherson Street will be closed for up to five days for utility work. The posted detour route will utilize Cornell Avenue, 104th Street and McPherson Street. Access to other properties on the closed block of 105th Street will be maintained from McPherson Street.

TOWNE ROAD UPDATES (weather- and progress-permitting):
- 136th Street is now open
- 141st Street is now closed and will open later this month
- Towne Road Bridge over I-465 is an INDOT project that has an expected completion of early 2026
CLAY CENTER BRIDGE The bridge south of Main Street and north of the Claridge Farm neighborhood entrance is closed through October.
SOUTHBOUND RANGE LINE ROAD
Southbound Range Line Road remains closed between Walnut Street and City Center Drive through Oct. 7.
The detour route utilizes Walnut Street, 3rd Avenue SW and City Center Drive. Northbound Range Line Road is open.

NEWS FROM HAMILTON COUNTY HIGHWAY The Hamilton County Highway Department is responsible for all roads, bridges and small structures (less than 20-foot span) within Hamilton County which are not state highways and which are not within the corporate limits of a city or town.
126TH STREET BRIDGE REHABILITATION 126th Street between Brookshire Parkway and Royce Court is closed for bridge rehabilitation with an expected completion date of mid-November.
Local traffic will continue to have access to their homes, while thru traffic is asked to utilize the posted detour of Keystone Parkway – 131st Street – Gray Road.

The City of Carmel encourages all residents and commuters to review the latest news release issued by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) regarding the Level Up 31 project.
This is a multi-year, state-led project by INDOT to enhance the I-465/U.S. 31 interchange. Although not a City of Carmel initiative, it will significantly impact local traffic flow, particularly near the 106th Street and U.S. 31 corridor.
Phase 1 construction is scheduled to begin on or after Monday, Oct. 6 and includes key closures such as the southbound U.S. 31 ramp to 106th Street and the closure of eastbound 106th Street under U.S. 31. For detailed detour maps, project timelines and the full scope of work, please refer to INDOT's official news release: INDOT Level Up 31 Project Update.
- All detour routes are posted on INDOT's LevelUp31.com website.
- Sign up for Level Up 31 project alerts via email or text message at alerts.indot.in.gov.
- Motorists are encouraged to visit INDOT TrafficWise at 511in.org to monitor conditions.
