Carmel unveils new identity: A City Built for Big Dreams
Marking a significant milestone in its strategy to competitively position the city as a premier destination for business, new residents and visitors, the City of Carmel launched its new identity this week. The distinct identity, which expresses Carmel's commitment to innovation, leadership and community empowerment, is the culmination of more than a year of planning that was informed by the City’s strategic planning effort.
The journey to Carmel's new identity was a collaborative effort involving extensive community input through outreach efforts, the Community Engagement Survey, interviews and group discussions. Residents, businesses and stakeholders were engaged throughout the process to ensure that Carmel’s identity truly represents the City's unique attributes and aspirations.

Mayor Sue Finkam elected to U.S. Conference of Mayors Advisory Board
Mayor Sue Finkam was elected to serve on the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) Advisory Board at the group’s national gathering June 22 in Tampa, Fla.
USCM is a nonpartisan organization that represents more than 1,400 cities that have populations of 30,000 or more. Each city is represented in the conference by its chief elected official, the mayor. Together, these mayors help craft and advance policies that impact local economies, public safety, infrastructure and quality of life for millions of Americans.

CarmelFest is here!
Get ready for the return of Carmel's most anticipated summer tradition! CarmelFest 2025 presented by Republic Airways, the City's premier two-day festival celebrating the 4th of July, is set to light up Civic Square and Carter Green on Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4.
This beloved annual event, organized by the Rotary Club of Carmel, promises a patriotic extravaganza for tens of thousands of attendees, featuring live entertainment on two stages, family-friendly activities, all of the favorite food and beverage vendors, an Independence Day parade and a spectacular fireworks grand finale.

CARMELFEST TRAFFIC
The City of Carmel and Carmel Police Department have issued traffic information for July 3 and 4. This link takes to the news release.
MAIN STREET ROUNDABOUTS
The closure on the east side of the Main Street and Richland Avenue roundabout to facilitate the installation of the “Taking Flight” sculpture, will continue through next week with the final installation date of June 30 and July 1.
While the closure is in place, eastbound and northbound traffic will be prevented from accessing Richland Avenue, north of Main Street, through the roundabout. A detour route will be in place utilizing the roundabouts at Main Street and Lexington Boulevard for access to Richland Avenue.
This closure will be in place during work hours on the following days:
Friday, June 27 Monday, June 30 Tuesday, July 1

City of Carmel to honor Stephen P. Sturtz
The City of Carmel Architecture Award honors inspirational leadership in landmark architecture and redevelopment in the City of Carmel. Mayor Sue Finkam, the City of Carmel and the Carmel Redevelopment Commission will present the 2025 Carmel Architecture Award to Stephen P. Sturtz (pictured), President of Pedcor Design Group, in recognition of his innovation in city design and architecture. Sturtz was influential in the design and realization of Carmel City Center, a transformational, multi-phase, mixed-use development in the heart of Carmel.

News from Carmel Utilities
Holiday Trash & Recycling Schedule
A friendly reminder that, due to Independence Day, there will be a one-day delay of Republic Services residential trash and recycling service AFTER the 4th of July holiday. This will impact Friday customers only.
Please also note that the Carmel Household Hazardous Waste site will be closed on Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5. It will reopen on Tueday, July 8.

2024 Water Quality Report
To comply with Indiana Department of Environmental Management state regulations, Carmel Utilities issues an annual Water Quality Report (also called Consumer Confidence Report) that details the quality of your drinking water. The purpose of this report is to raise understanding of drinking water and awareness of the need to protect our drinking water sources.
We are pleased to report that Carmel Water tap water met all Environmental Protection Agency and state standards in 2024.

Carmel Fire and Police and other City of Carmel teams will join local, state and federal public safety agencies to engage and educate the public on safety and emergency preparedness. Each year, this event draws crowds with interactive activities for all ages.

The Carmel Climate Action Committee is tasked with advising and making recommendations regarding the implementation of the Carmel Climate Action Plan (CAP). Strategy PE-1 of the CAP involves public education about sustainability and the environment. This new section of the newsletter will help meet this goal by providing useful information, tips and resources for residents.
