Carmel's Drone First Responder Program on WRTV
Last week, WRTV sat down with Carmel Police Department's Sgt. Tim Byrne to talk about the city's new Drone First Responder Program that was announced at the State of the City on Oct. 29.

City's strong bond rating reaffirmed
Mayor Sue Finkam announced today that S&P Global Ratings reaffirmed the City of Carmel’s ‘AA’ rating for three property tax bonds currently being pursued by Chief Financial Officer Zac Jackson. Most of the bond proceeds are expected to fund several capital projects such as the construction of new roundabouts and raised pedestrian crosswalks, necessary improvements to Bear Creek Park and upgrades to several fire stations.

Recycle election signs
The City of Carmel Utilities and Carmel Street Department are partnering with the Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center and Recycle Force to recycle 2024 election campaign signs.
From Tuesday, Nov. 12 to Wednesday, Nov. 27, Carmel residents can bring their campaign signs and metal stands to the following locations:
Carmel Household Hazardous Waste Site, 901 N. Range Line Rd., Carmel, 46032 Carmel Street Department, 3400 W. 131st St., Carmel, 46074 Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center, 1717 Pleasant St., Ste. 200, Noblesville, 46060

2025 City of Carmel Arts Grant applications open through Nov. 29
The City of Carmel announced its 2025 City Arts Grant application process, which will be conducted entirely online for the first time. This program aims to support local arts organizations that contribute to the vibrancy and appeal of our community. Since its inception in 2004, more than $17.3 million in arts grants have been awarded. The City Council has approved $1.47 million in funding for the 2025 grant cycle.
Local arts groups are encouraged to apply for funding. The deadline for the initial round of applications is Friday, November 29, at 5 p.m. For more information and to access the online application, please visit Carmel Arts Grants | City of Carmel.

Hometown hero competes in powerlifting championship in Iceland
There is certainly no shortage of talent in our Carmel community. We are proud to cheer on Carmel resident and 2020 Carmel High School graduate, Sky Simpson, who competes today at the International Powerlifting Federation’s World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Reykjanesbaer, Iceland.
Sky, who was born with Down syndrome, found his love for weightlifting while in high school and has earned multiple medals competing in Special Olympics. "Sky has finished workouts at the competition venue and is ready to represent Special Olympics and the U.S.A.!" Steve Simpson, Sky's father, said.

3RD AVENUE SW - Beginning Saturday, Nov. 23, during the Christkindlmarkt's hours of operation, 3rd Avenue SW will be open to northbound traffic only. Signage will be in place to indicate the traffic adjustment. You will also notice that the free Holiday Trolley will begin service that same day and will be available at the dates and times listed below.

Carmel Fire Department kicks off annual community assistance program
Since 1967, the Carmel Fire Department (CFD) has delivered food and gifts to families in need in Carmel. Every year, CFD, with support from the Carmel community, has assisted hundreds of needy families during the holiday season.

Fall leaf and landscape waste removal Now through Dec. 15, each Carmel Utilities/Republic Services residential customer home is allowed up to 20 bags/bundles (four feet or shorter bundles) of landscape waste pick up per week, free of charge.

Carmel City Center announced two new restaurants joining the mix of dining options. Lone Pine, in what was previously Tucci's, celebrated its opening on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Charred will open its doors in early 2025.

The Grand Opening of the Carmel Clay History Museum is Sunday, Nov. 17 from 1 - 5 p.m.
The open house event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. with remarks following. The public is invited to join the Carmel Clay Historical Society team as they share the rich history of Carmel and Clay Township while enjoying light refreshments throughout the afternoon.
