First State of the City Address details strong progress, bold plans
Highlighting successes from her early months in office at Tuesday night’s State of the City address, Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam detailed future efforts toward sustaining and improving what she described as a world-class community with a strong legacy.
Hosted by OneZone Chamber of Commerce, the event held at The Palladium attracted more than 550 residents, business leaders and city team members. A link to a recording of the session can be found here.
Thanks to OneZone Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jack Russell and Ascension Health Carmel President Chad Dilley for hosting the event.
Mayor Finkam fielded questions from Jack Russell, OneZone President & CEO, sharing progress by new task forces that she formed earlier this year, which focus on housing, the needs of senior citizens, as well as veterans and young professionals.

Carmel Police Department announces launch of Drone First Responder Program
The Carmel Police Department (CPD) is proud to announce the launch of its Drone First Responder (DFR) Program which serves to enhance the existing patrol-led drone operations under the Carmel Police Air Support Unit. Operating under a waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), our DFR drones respond directly to calls for service along with patrol officers and often arrive on the scene before them.

Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam officially introduced the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Public Safety this week. This commission is set to play a crucial role in advising the mayor on how public safety can adapt to the needs of the community, ultimately providing better service to citizens and patrons of the City of Carmel.

City of Carmel introduces system to enhance transparency in government spending
In a continued effort to make government more transparent and accessible, the City of Carmel on Tuesday announced the launch of its financial transparency portal. This new tool will provide residents with a clear and detailed look into the city's financials, making it easier than ever to track where and how public funds are being spent.

City hosts first Diwali Festival
The city hosted its first annual Diwali Festival of Lights on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Midtown Plaza. Thanks to Mayor Sue Finkam, Carmel City Councilor Dr. Anita Joshi, the Diwali committee, sponsors American Structurepoint, Inc. and Patel Brothers, city teams, volunteers and vendors for bringing this new event to the City of Carmel. It's almost officially Movember!
Carmel Fire Department and City of Carmel present 'Everyone Deserves Their Morning Sun' event
The Carmel Fire Department (CFD) and the City of Carmel proudly present the Movember event "Everyone Deserves Their Morning Sun" dedicated to raising awareness for men’s health. On Monday, Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. the roundabout at Range Line Road, Clay Terrace Boulevard and Lowes Way will be transformed into a vibrant tribute to men impacted by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health challenges. This event goes beyond a fundraiser - it’s a statement of hope and strength for everyone touched by the issues Movember seeks to address.
This year, every $5 received for Movember will go towards the placement of a white flag in the center of the roundabout. These flags will represent survivors, loved ones and supporters and will create a visible and powerful display of unity and shared courage.

HAVERSTICK ROAD - Haverstick Road from E. 96th Street to E. 99th Street is open to southbound traffic only while work is underway in the northbound lane. This will re-open in November.
VETERANS WAY AND WALNUT STREET - This +/- 30-day full closure of Veterans Way and Walnut Street is underway for the construction of a roundabout at that intersection.
FROM HAMILTON COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
146TH STREET (HAZEL DELL PARKWAY TO WHITE RIVER BRIDGE) - Please be advised, beginning on or after the dates listed below between the hours of 6 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday, drivers should expect intermittent lane closures for the resurfacing of 146th Street between Hazel Dell Parkway and the White River bridge.

Fall leaf and landscape waste removal Now through Dec. 15, each Carmel Utilities/Republic Services residential customer home is allowed up to 20 bags/bundles (four feet or shorter bundles) of landscape waste pick up per week, free of charge.

- Setting the Home Place standards for appropriate types of development
- Support for Home Place businesses and their properties
- Potential opportunities for village-scaled infill investment in and around the business district
