Carmel Utilities director John Duffy wins Ivan H. Brinegar Award
Carmel Utilities director John Duffy was awarded the Ivan H. Brinegar Award at the 2024 Aim Ideas Summit this week in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Duffy joined the City of Carmel in 1993, becoming the director of Carmel Utilities in 1996. Under his leadership, Carmel has overhauled and modernized its water and sewer systems and launched recycling and renewable energy initiatives leading to robust, efficient and environmentally sustainable utilities.
"It was incredibly heartwarming to see John Duffy receive the Ivan H. Brinegar award by Aim," said Mayor Sue Finkam. "John’s career leading Carmel’s water and sewer utilities has been exemplary and we are thankful."
The Ivan H. Brinegar Award is presented to an appointed municipal official with a minimum of 10 years of city or town service. Nominees display strong leadership, contributions to their community and are a role model to citizens and other municipal officials.
Congratulations on your well-deserved award, John!
