Secretary of State Anthony Blinken references Carmel at U.S. Conference of Mayors
Carmel received a nice shout out from U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during this week’s U.S. Conference of Mayors' 91st Winter Meeting in Washington, DC. We were praised for our roundabouts that not only make our streets safer but are also good for the environment. Carmel is referenced at about 17:27 in the video.

City retains strong AA credit rating for bond sale
The City of Carmel has retained its strong, investment-grade AA credit rating after a review of the City’s financial strength and long-term stability. The rating was issued by Standard & Poor’s (“S&P Global Ratings”) for the sale of $62.45 million in lease rental bonds that will be used to finance the construction of several road system projects, including the completion of various multi-use paths along existing roads.
S&P issued their report stating that Carmel's local economy “remains a pillar of credit strength,” adding that “the city's growing tax base, coupled with its strong management, continues to support Carmel's stable financial profile, which is characterized by very strong reserves and consistent operating performance.”

Festival of Ice starts today!
3 days of professional ice carvings on Main Street, Carter Green headline a winter weekend that includes ice skating and a Carmel Fire Department Chili Cook-Off
Top ice carvers from around the Midwest will be in Carmel this weekend, January 20 - 22 for three days of competitions and demonstrations as the City of Carmel presents the sixth annual Festival of Ice sponsored by Allied Solutions.
Friday, January 20, 4 - 7 p.m. Carmel Arts & Design District Watch carvers create incredible ice masterpieces.
Saturday, January 21, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Carter Green The ice carving moves to Carter Green and while you are there, vote for your favorite sculpture and chili during the Carmel Fire Department’s Chili Cook-Off from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Sunday, January 22, 10 a.m - 2 p.m. Carter Green The competition kicks into high gear as the ice carvers return for the grand finale, a fast-paced “carve off” featuring head-to-head competition on stage in a tournament style format. The winner will be determined with the help of the crowd.

The City of Carmel, in coordination with the Mayor' Advisory Commission on Human Relations presented the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Commemoration at the Tarkington Theater on Monday, January 16.
