Workday will officially replace BOSS (Oracle) this December as Lake County’s new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This is a major step forward in how we manage Finance, Payroll, Human Resources and Purchasing for the County.
Our mission is to simplify, standardize and streamline processes. This will improve efficiency, increase transparency and promote a unified Lake County. All communications and decision-making related to Workday reflect this goal.

Project OneLake Status: On Schedule
The Project Team will conduct End to End testing (E2E) from July 28 through August 6 at the Waukegan campus. This important step simulates real-world scenarios to ensure Workday's business processes function smoothly across departments—from start to finish.
A special thank you to the staff and departments participating in testing. Your time and attention to detail are critical to the County’s success in transitioning to Workday.
Take Time Off and Note Absences in Workday!
Workday offers a range of features to support employee productivity and accountability. Two key features include Time Tracking and Absence Management. While both tools relate to how time is managed, they serve different purposes:
Workday Time Tracking: Simplifies time entry and approval processes, tracks hours worked (including overtime and shift differentials) and supports customizable time entry through web browsers and mobile devices.
|
Workday Absence Management: Handles various types of absences, such as vacation, sick leave, and other leaves of absence. Employees can easily view their own leave balances before submitting a request. Managers will receive notifications in Workday to review and approve time off requests. Once approved, the system automatically updates the employee’s leave balance and records the time off. The entire process is managed within Workday.

Reminder! Download Documents from BOSS
After Workday goes live in December, you'll no longer be able to access, view or download old payslips or W-2s (Tax Forms). Please take the time now to download anything you may need for your personal records or tax filings from BOSS. This will save time later and ensure you have what you need, when you need it.
Here’s what you need to know:
- After Workday is implemented you will no longer have access to BOSS.
- Follow this guide to learn how to download your documents.
- HR will only retain records from 2017 to 2025 and you’ll need to submit a request to access them.
- Records from before 2017 will not be available after the transition.
If you have additional questions or need help, contact your department’s Help Desk team for guidance.
Thank You for Your Continued Support - Together Let's Simplify, Standardize, Streamline!
