This December, Workday will officially replace BOSS (Oracle) as Lake County’s new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This transition marks a major step forward in how we manage Finance, Payroll, Human Resources and Purchasing.
By moving to Workday, we are:
- Reducing manual processes
- Improving data accuracy
- Connecting all departments through one integrated system
The result? Greater transparency, accountability and informed decision-making.
What All Employees Can Do in Workday
Workday’s intuitive design empowers both managers and employees to update and manage information more efficiently than ever. Tasks that once took several steps can now be completed quickly and easily, all from one dashboard:
- Request time off
- Update direct deposit information
- Review tax withholding decisions
- Change benefit selections
- Monitor IMRF voluntary contributions
- Use the Help Center
- Access training resources
Your Experience Will Vary Based On Your Role:
Workday allows users to customize preferences, favorites, inbox filters and notification settings, giving you control over how and when you receive updates.
-
Employees can manage their personal information, time-off requests and benefits.
-
Managers will gain insights into their teams, including position details and organizational charts.
More details about specific user roles and responsibilities will be shared later this summer.
How You Can Help!
Talk to your team! Start conversations, ask questions and share feedback. Use the resources provided each month by your department’s Change Champion, and be sure to attend demos or watch recordings when available.
Prepare Now
As we prepare to transition to Workday, now is the time to download your important documents from BOSS:
- Payslips
- W-2s (Tax Forms)
Here’s what you need to know:
- You will no longer have direct access to BOSS after go-live.
- HR will only retain records from 2017–2025 and you’ll need to submit a request to access them.
- Records from before 2017 will not be available after the transition.
Please take a few minutes now to download anything you may need for your personal records or tax filings from BOSS. This will save time later and ensure you have what you need, when you need it.

Training is Coming!
You’ll be supported throughout the transition with a wide range of training options. A variety of resources and formats, including instructor-led sessions, job aids, videos and in-system help tools will be available to accommodate different learning styles and schedules.
Training won’t stop when Workday launches in December. Refresher sessions, updated guides and live support will continue to be available to ensure ongoing success.
