  • Assessment notices will begin to be sent out to property owners in Ela Township on Aug. 24 and will continue to townships across Lake County through August. 
  • If you have questions or concerns regarding the assessed value of your property, discuss this with your local township assessor's office.
  • Visit a Lake County Tax Assessment Help Center or the Chief County Assessment Office for one-on-one assistance to understand your assessment and/or file an appeal.

Did you know 60 percent of teen crashes occur when the drivers are distracted? To reduce this, Lake County law enforcement and traffic safety partners are working together to educate motorists about the dangers of texting and driving, and increased traffic safety patrols will be enforcing the hand-held cell phone ban through Labor Day. Family and loved ones of those who serve or have served in the military are invited to connect with others at an event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Dryhootch/Lake County Veterans and Family Services Foundation drop-in center, 100 S. Get Help With Driver's License, Passport at Mobile Event Friday

Get your driver's license renewed, apply for or renew your passport, and get your passport photo taken at an upcoming event hosted by the Illinois Secretary of State's office and the Lake County Circuit Clerk's Office! Visit the Circuit Clerk's Office website for an easy-to-follow passport checklist and application, and visit www.cyberdriveillinois.com for more information regarding driver's license renewal.  No appointment is needed at this event or when visiting the Circuit Clerk’s Office for passport services.

Healing Garden to Provide Comfort to Child Victims of Abuse

The Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center recently broke ground for its Healing Garden, a place to bring comfort to child victims of abuse. The Children’s Advocacy Center works with the State’s Attorney’s Office and Lake County police departments to investigate and help successfully prosecute offenders of child abuse without causing further trauma to the child victim. The Village of Barrington hosts Cruise Nights at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday until Sept. 1 in the Barrington Village Center on Cook and Station streets and the BMO Harris Bank Parking lot. Cruise Night is a free event that highlights a different car every week.
