Lake County Health Update                                                                           August 2016

Dear Lake County Residents:

Summer is flying by. So as you plan your outdoor activities, I encourage you to add "Rx for Health-Walking in Nature" to your calendar. A collaboration of the Health Department, the Lake County Forest Preserves and NorthShore University Health System, these walks bring together a healthcare provider and naturalist for free guided tours of Lake County's forest preserves that the entire family can enjoy. The next walk is Saturday, August 13, 4 to 5 p.m. at Lyons Woods, 10200 W. Blanchard Road, Waukegan.

Launched in 2014, this program aligns with the Health Department’s Live Well Lake County initiative to increase physical activity, healthy eating and quality of life.

The walks are open to all ages. Those 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. All walks start at 4 p.m. and range in length from 1 to 2 miles. These are rain or shine events and no pets are allowed (with the exception of service animals).  To see the full schedule of walks for 2016, visit the Rx for Health webpage.

We look forward to seeing you and your family at the next walk!

Sincerely,

Mark A. Pfister
Interim Executive Director
Lake County Health Department/
Community Health Center
