Calendars and cards can also be purchased at the Evanston Ecology Center, Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Robert Crown Community Center, Chandler-Newberger Center, the City Clerk's Office located in the Morton Civic Center, and at Downtown Evanston's office, located at 820 Davis St., Suite 151.

Apply Now for Water Worker 1 Apprentice Program

The Evanston Utilities Department invites all residents age 18 and older to apply to its Water Worker 1 Apprentice Program by Wed., Dec. 31.

Apprentices will have the opportunity to gain exposure to the Water & Sewer Industry; develop skills in underground utility maintenance; develop skills maintaining water plant equipment; become familiar with requirements for City of Evanston workers; and earn an Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Move In Move Out (MIMO) is an organization that helps college students, specifically at Northwestern University and Michigan State University, deal with excess furniture and other items during move-in and move-out periods.

The winter Indoor Farmer & Artisan Market just began on Sat., Dec. 6. It takes place every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., through April 25 at the Evanston Ecology Center. More >>>


Holiday Light Recycling

Holiday Lights

The City of Evanston, in conjunction with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), began its annual holiday light recycling program on Mon., Dec. 1.

Holiday string lighting and extension cords can be dropped off for recycling at the Evanston Ecology Center, Main Evanston Library and Levy Senior Center. This year's donations will be recycled through a program supported by the City, SWANCC and Elgin Recycling. More >>>
