 "Holiday Parking: Free for 2023!"
The City is making local holiday shopping easier this year by offering a “Holiday Parking: Free for 2023” promotion. Community members and visitors to Evanston’s business districts will enjoy up to two hours of free parking daily from November 22, 2023, through January 1, 2024.
How to get free parking: Users can simply enter the code "Holiday2023" while using the Park Evanston app to access two hours of free street parking. This offer is valid for app users once per day per account.

The first snowfall has already graced us with its presence. This week is Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois and there's no better time than now to get prepared for the next one. You can help keep the city safe and accessible for all by checking out our flurry of useful tips.
Stay informed: Parking restrictions can be declared following accumulated snowfall. Sign up for convenient text message or email alerts and we'll notify you when it's time to move your vehicle.
 Congratulations, arts award recipients!
The Evanston Arts Council named the 2023 Mayor’s Awards for the Arts recipients: Chris Greene and The Mitchell Museum of the American Indian.
Celebrate the winners: Recognize Evanston's vibrant arts scene at this year's "A Bright Night for the Arts" on Wednesday, Nov. 15, where the winners will be presented with their awards. RSVP to attend.
 Catch the 'Salt Smart and You' Exhibit
Evanston has secured the 'Salt Smart and You' exhibit, courtesy of the Chicago Area Waterways Chloride Workgroup. Swing by the Robert Crown Community Center before November 12 to catch this educational exhibit on the environmental impacts of salt and ways to use it responsibly this winter.
Can't make it by then? No worries! The exhibit will be traveling to the Evanston Public Library from November 20 to 26 and then to the Morton Civic Center from November 27 to 30.
 Veterans Day is Saturday
Honor those who have served at the Veterans Day Ceremony at Fountain Square on Sat., Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. Find a list of organizations, services, and programs available to veterans and their families on the City's website.
Reminder: City facilities and services, including refuse collection and street cleaning, will operate as normal on Veterans Day.

NU Community Benefits Agreement Town Hall Meeting
Join Councilmembers Burns, Harris, and Reid for a Town Hall meeting to discuss the NU Stadium Community Benefits Agreement. The meeting is tonight, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m., at the Robert Crown Community Center.
Do you have items in need of repair?
Bring in your small appliances, electronics, jewelry, clothing, and more to be repaired by volunteers at the Evanston Repair Cafe this Sat., Nov. 11, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Robert Crown Community Center. Sign up for a time.
CTA planned night track renewal work
The CTA has announced night track renewal work along the CTA Purple Line, which will occur between the Davis and Foster Stations. Work will take place a few nights a week between November 20 and December 16.
View the LEAP Community Responder Report
Earlier this year, the City partnered with the Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP) to explore the use of a community responder program. Community responder teams consist of unarmed civilians trained to handle low-risk 9-1-1 calls. After research, community outreach, and analysis, LEAP has developed locally tailored recommendations.
"Evanston Pride" Day at FJT
Evanston Pride, Inc. and Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre will present a special, final performance of "This Bitter Earth" on Sun., Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. Enjoy a post-show discussion and a reception. Use code FJT2024 for $5 off tickets.
Light the way to your holidays on Central Street
Kick off the holiday season with a stroll along Central Street. Spend the day shopping, dining, and participating in holiday festivities on Sat., Nov. 11. Plus, enjoy a tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. in Independence Park.

 Meet Keeler, a sweet and gentle soul who loves to cuddle and go for walks, but is just happy to be included in most activities. Keeler is a 60-pound, male dog who would be great with kids!
