 Indulge in the world of art this weekend 🎨
Peruse handmade goods: Check out the Maker's Market in Downtown Evanston on Sun., Oct. 8, from noon to 5 p.m. Head to the 5th Floor of the Maple Avenue Parking Garage to shop hundreds of unique and one-of-a-kind, handmade goods. Plus, enjoy free art making and artists demos.
Tour artists' studios: Join in for Evanston Made's 9th Annual Studio Tour on Sat., Oct. 7, from noon to 5 p.m. Explore artists' studios, meet artists, learn about their work, and start your art collection during this self-guided tour opportunity. View the Studio Tour Map.
Watch the unveiling: Join us for the unveiling of "Explorer", a bronze sculpture by artist Erik Blome, depicting the face of Jean Baptiste Point DuSable. The ceremony is on Sun., Oct. 8, 3 p.m., at the Evanston Public Library, with food by Kinzin Creole and music by Gerald "Toto" Alfred.
 Playing in the park: First Friday & Starlight Movie
Stop by First Friday: Visit Mason Park on Fri., Oct. 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to enjoy the final First Friday event of the year featuring free food, music, outdoor games, and more. Community organizations will also be on-site to provide information about available resources for youth and families.
Experience a Starlight Movie in the Park: Gather your family and friends to enjoy the film "Minions: The Rise of Gru" at Ingraham Park on Sat., Oct. 7, starting at 7 p.m. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets!
 How could the City spend $10 million dollars?
The City is applying for $10 million in federal funds to help remove barriers to affordable housing, and we want your feedback!
Ways to provide feedback: Fill out our feedback form or email housing@cityofevanston.org by October 20. You can also attend one of two Open Houses on Tues., Oct. 12, at noon or 6 p.m.

Make sure you're prepared for emergencies
Join the Office of Emergency Management for their Emergency Preparedness Fair on Sat., Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at ETHS. Learn how to minimize risks and stay safe during emergencies. Plus, take advantage of free breakout informational sessions and Emergency Preparedness Kits (while supplies last). Register for a session today.

Join Evanston Parks & Recreation for a scary good time at this year’s "Zombie Scramble" on October 21! Brave the 2-mile course through Ladd Arboretum, Butler Park, and Twiggs Park while avoiding zombies. Can you finish with all of your “lives” intact? Register by tomorrow, Oct. 6.
Limited services in the Clerk's Office, October 9-13
The Clerk's Office will have limited services available during the week of October 9, while full-time staff attend a week of professional development. Staff will still be reachable via email.
New initiatives promote accessibility and inclusivity
The City has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of accessibility and inclusivity for all residents and visitors. To ensure equal access to programs and services as outlined in the City’s ADA Transition Plan, several new initiatives have been implemented by the City.

Check out the Evanston Public Library's Repair Cafes on Tues., Oct. 10 at the Robert Crown Branch and Sat., Oct. 14 at the Main Library. Repair appliances, clothing, electronics and more with skilled community volunteers. Sign up for time slot today.

The library is turning 150!
 The Evanston Public Library is hosting an Open House on Sat., Oct. 14 to celebrate their 150th anniversary. Drop by the Main Library or the Robert Crown Branch for special events and scheduled programming throughout the day.
Attend a special Thank You Reception: Stick around for the 150th anniversary capstone event, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Main Library. The reception will feature a program on the Library’s collaboration with the Shorefront Legacy Center to fully digitize the Evanston Newsette and the Evanston Review and desegregate a portion of our city’s history.
