 On the big screen: Starlight Movies in the Park
The Starlight Movies in the Park series features movies on Tuesdays and Saturdays during the month of August at parks throughout Evanston. Movies begin at dusk (around 8 p.m.). Capacity limits and safety restrictions are in place; don't forget your face covering.
Community Building Equity Summit
Join Evanston Cradle to Career Student Advocates, the City of Evanston, Evanston Fight for Black Lives, and Talking Whiteness On Central, for a Community Building Equity Summit on Thurs., Aug. 13 and Fri., Aug. 14.  COVID-19 Rental Assistance
Illinois' Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERA)
The Illinois’ Emergency Rental Assistance program will provide renters impacted by COVID-19 $5,000 for back rent and prepay through 2020, or until funds are exhausted. The application portal is open through Fri., Aug. 21. Due to high volume, the portal may close early, so we encourage those who meet the requirements to apply as soon as possible. Cook County's COVID-19 Recovery: Rental Assistance Program
The Cook County's Rental Assistance Program helps suburban Cook County residents who are having difficulty paying their rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It pays up to three months of overdue or future rent, and rental payments will be sent directly to landlords by the Housing Authority of Cook County. The application portal is open through Tues., Aug. 18. More information.

Apply for the OBAP Aerospace Virtual Education Academy today!
In light of changes brought on by COVID-19, the Organization of Black Aerospace Professions (OBAP) has joined forces with the JetBlue Foundation to offer virtual opportunities for students interested in learning more about aerospace. Middle school and high school students are invited to register for the Aerospace Virtual Academy (AVE), which will take place Aug. 17 and 18.
Selected students will have the opportunity to tour JetBlue and US Air Force facilities, participate in hands-on aviation and enjoy aerospace lessons.

COVID-19 State Testing Sites
Need a COVID-19 test? The State has testing sites open to the public. No appointment, doctor referral, or insurance is needed at state operated drive-thru sites and testing is available at no cost to the individual.
The closest locations to Evanston are:
Harwood Heights 6959 W. Forest Preserve Rd. Chicago 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. while daily supplies last
Arlington Racetrack 2000 W. Euclid Ave. Arlington Heights 8 p.m. to 4 p.m. while daily supplies last
Temporary Building Permit Desk at Robert Crown
The City has opened a temporary building permit desk at the Robert Crown Community Center. Due to COVID-19, the City’s permit desk at the Morton Civic Center will remain closed. Make an appointment today.
 Census takers have hit the pavement
Census takers have begun visiting Evanston households that have yet to respond to the 2020 Census to collect their responses in person. If you haven't responded, you may avoid a visit by responding online or by phone at 844-330-2020 today!
How do I know the Census taker is legitimate? Census takers will follow all health and safety guidelines and will always carry an ID badge with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date. More information.
Producemobile, August 25
The Greater Chicago Food Depository's Producemobile, co-sponsored by the City and Interfaith Action of Evanston, is scheduled to come to Evanston from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 25 at James Park. Cook County residents can pick up a box of fresh produce, frozen pre-cooked meat, and/or assorted dairy products while supplies last. More information.
 The Robert Crown Library Branch is Open!
The brand new Robert Crown Library Branch at 1801 Main St. is open to visitors on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Procedures are in place so all can enjoy the space safely. Read more.

NU Community Town Hall
