Levy Center Closed August 7 through August 11

Parking Lot Improvements August 7 through September 15

The Levy Center will be closed for all programs and activities from Monday, August 7 through Friday, August 11. The Center will be open for lunch and to purchase taxi coupons, wheel tax, beach tokens and yard waste stickers from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bus will run as usual. Parking will be available on Dodge Avenue only.

Levy Senior Center parking lot resurfacing is scheduled to begin on August 7 as part of the City’s 2017 Parking Lot Improvement Project. The lot will be completely closed to the public from August 7 to August 11. From August 12 to September 15, parking lot construction will be staged to allow parking in approximately half of the parking lot at a time. Thank you for your patience as we make these important improvements.

Thursday is National Watermelon Day!

There's no better way to remember what it's like to be a kid than to feel your hands get sticky with watermelon juice...so join us for National Watermelon Day this Thursday, August 3 at 1 p.m.! Enjoy a tasty treat on a summer day.

Clay Hand Building and Glazing Classes Begin August 21

Love getting your hands dirty or making something from nothing? Learn how to hand build clay by using a variety of tools and methods. Classes take place on Mondays from August 21 to October 16; choose from a 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. class time or a 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. class time. The cost is $75 for Levy members and $90 for nonmembers. The fee includes instruction, firing and supplies. Studio time is available for class members at no additional fee. Craft Quickies Class Begins August 23

Join us on Wednesdays from August 23 to October 18 for Craft Quickies! The class takes place from 10 a.m. to noon and includes tile painting, bottle melting, papermaking, decorative wire bugs and shaving cream crafts. Register online, by calling 847-448-8250, or by visiting the Levy Center front desk. The cost, which includes all supplies, is $48 for Levy members and $63 for nonmembers. (Class # 524605)

Jewelry and Glass Fusion Classes Begin August 23, 24

Explore the art of glass fusion! Classes are available on Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and on Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon, from August 23 through October 19. Discover how to make paperweights, dishes, sun catchers, jewelry, and pictures. Register online, by calling 847-448-8250, or by visiting the Levy Center front desk. The cost, which includes the assembly of your finished work and some materials, is $70 for Levy members and $85 for nonmembers. Going in Style Movie Showing and Popcorn August 25!

What do you do when your hard-earned pension becomes a corporate casualty, you have bills to pay, and your family is counting on you? Three men who have been friends nearly their entire lives will find out when it happens to them. Watch them come out of retirement to go after the bank that took off with their money in this film starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin.

Free Fitness Week August 28 to September 3!

This is your opportunity to find the fitness class that is right for you without any obligation! The free fitness class schedule is available at the Levy Center. All classes will start their new session the following week, so if you like the class, you can register for it right away (some classes fill up quick, so don’t wait).
