The Big Draw Evanston Begins Saturday!

The Big Draw Evanston kicks off this Saturday! The month-long festival will feature nearly 30 free art events at locations throughout the city this October, including album and book cover art at Squeezebox Books and Music, comic book inking at Blick Art, drawing on glass at the Levy Center, and much more.

Evanston Art & Big Fork Festival this Weekend

Enjoy local art, flavorful fare and live music all weekend long at the Evanston Art & Big Fork festival. The fun begins at 4 p.m. this Fri., Sept. 30 and runs through Sun., Oct. 2 in Downtown Evanston at Church Street and Sherman Avenue.

Enjoy "A Bright Night for the Arts" October 6

Get your tickets for the 3rd annual "A Bright Night for the Arts" on Thurs., Oct. 6, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Rotary International Building! The event will include music, wine, tasty small bites, and great networking opportunities. Mayor Tisdahl will also announce this year’s winners of the Mayor’s Award for the Arts.

Fall Bulk Trash Pick-ups Begin October 7

Please note: This schedule has changed since it was originally published in spring 2016.

The City offers residents the free removal of up to six cubic yards of bulk garbage twice per year. Fall bulk trash pick-ups will take place on Fridays, October 7-28, and are scheduled according to residents’ normal refuse pick-up day.

Help Plan North Shore Transit at Open House October 4, 5

Provide input on ways to improve North Shore public transit at a Pace/CTA Open House on Tues., Oct. 4, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Chicago Public Library’s Rogers Park Branch, or Wed., Oct. 5, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Lincolnwood Community Center.

Provide your input to finalize the concept plan for the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center. A public meeting will take place tonight, Thurs., Sept. 29, 7 p.m., at the Center.

Sign Up for Evanston Water Plant Tours October 8

Tour Evanston's Water Treatment Facility on Sat., Oct. 8! The first tour will be given from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for residents age 15 years and older. A second “child friendly” tour will follow from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is required.

3rd Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event 10/2

The 3rd annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event raises awareness about the causes, effects and remediation to sexualized violence against women. Join the walk this Sun., Oct. 2, 10 a.m. to noon, in Centennial Park.
