Making Evanston the Most Livable City - For Everyone

Citizens' Greener Evanston will host its major Earth Month event on Sun., April 24, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center. The theme is “Making Evanston the Most Livable City – For Everyone.” The keynote will be delivered by Veronica Kyle of Faith in Place, an organization dedicated to bringing together religious people of diverse faiths to care for the Earth through education, connection and advocacy. More >>>


Evanston Signs Amicus Brief in Support of EPA Clean Power Plan

The City of Evanston announced its support of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan, a critical measure that will protect the safety and economic security of local communities across the United States facing the rising impacts of climate change.

Evanston joins more than 50 other cities and counties from across the nation in signing an amicus brief supporting the measure. The amicus brief was authored by the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School, and filed in federal court on Fri., April 1. More >>>

Green Ball May 13!

The Evanston Environmental Association (EEA) and the City of Evanston invite Chicagoland community members to party for the planet at the 5th annual Evanston Green Ball.

The ball will be held from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Fri., May 13 at the Levy Center, located at 300 Dodge Ave. in Evanston. More >>>


Free Rain Barrels

Evanston Rain Barrel

 

Thanks to the City of Evanston’s partnership with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD), eligible Evanston residents can order free rain barrels to be installed on their property. Single-family homeowners and property owners of apartment buildings will be able to order up to four free 55-gallon rain barrels, which come in four colors. While commercial properties are not eligible for free barrels, they may be purchased for $58.
