Evanston Selected as a U.S. Earth Hour Finalist for 2nd Consecutive Year!

Evanston has been selected as a finalist to represent the United States in the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour City Challenge for the second year in a row! Last year, Evanston edged Cleveland and Seattle to become the US Earth Hour City Capital. This year, we'll compete with Burlington, VT and Boulder, CO for the title, which will be announced later this year.

Cast Your Vote in the National Drinking Water Week 3rd Grade Art Contest

In honor of 2016 National Drinking Water Week (NDWW), May 1-7, the City is hosting an art contest for 3rd grade students in Evanston to celebrate the contest's theme, “The Power of Water.” Through Mon., April 4, at 5 p.m., cast your vote online to determine this year’s People's Choice Award winner.

Save the Date: Robert Crown Center's Annual Spring Flea Market April 9

Find great bargains at Robert Crown Community Center's annual Spring Flea Market on Sat., April 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anticipated sale items include sporting equipment, household goods, jewelry, books and more. Admission is free!

Register for Free Business Workshop April 22

The City will host its 4th annual free workshop, Evanston Procurement 101, to help local businesses and contractors learn how they can do business with the city's large entities. The workshop will be held on Fri., April 22, 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Morton Civic Center.

Evanston Police Department Releases 2015 Crime Stats

The Evanston Police Department has released the city's Part I crime statistics for 2015. Overall, Part I crimes for 2015 were down 5.1 percent, which equated to 104 fewer victims in 2015 compared with 2014.

Evanston Animal Shelter Pet Adoption Event this Saturday!

Join the Evanston Animal Shelter for a pet adoption event this Sat., April 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at First Bank & Trust. Dog treats and human treats will be available.

Piccolo Theatre's "The Misanthrope" Debuts 4/1

Tickets are now available for Piccolo Theatre's "The Misanthrope," which debuts this Fri., April 1. Shows take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Ald. Eleanor Revelle will host a 7th Ward meeting tonight, Thurs., March 31, 7 p.m., at the Evanston Ecology Center.

9th Ward Meeting 4/7

Ald. Brian Miller will host a 9th Ward meeting on Thurs., April 7, 7 p.m., at the David Wood Field House in Kamen East Park.

View Evanston Fire's 2015 Annual Report

The Evanston Fire Department has released its 2015 Annual Report. In 2015, the department responded to 9,630 calls for service, the highest total call volume in its history.

Dog Beach Opening Delayed Due to Beach Erosion

Evanston's Dog Beach will open no earlier than May 1 this season due to beach conditions. The City is investigating the option of moving sand to the area to create a larger beach space.

"Native American History and Evanston" at EHC 4/7

Join the Evanston History Center for its "Native American History and Evanston" program on Thurs., April 7, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a wine and appetizer reception. Admission is $10.
