Evanston Selected as a U.S. Earth Hour Finalist for 2nd Consecutive Year!

Evanston has been selected as a finalist to represent the United States in the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour City Challenge for the second year in a row! Last year, Evanston edged Cleveland and Seattle to become the US Earth Hour City Capital. This year, we'll compete with Burlington, VT and Boulder, CO for the title, which will be announced later this year.

Cast Your Vote in the National Drinking Water Week 3rd Grade Art Contest

In honor of 2016 National Drinking Water Week (NDWW), May 1-7, the City is hosting an art contest for 3rd grade students in Evanston to celebrate the contest's theme, “The Power of Water.” Through Mon., April 4, at 5 p.m., cast your vote online to determine this year’s People's Choice Award winner.

The City will host its 4th annual free workshop, Evanston Procurement 101, to help local businesses and contractors learn how they can do business with the city's large entities. The workshop will be held on Fri., April 22, 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Morton Civic Center.

Evanston Police Department Releases 2015 Crime Stats

The Evanston Police Department has released the city's Part I crime statistics for 2015. Overall, Part I crimes for 2015 were down 5.1 percent, which equated to 104 fewer victims in 2015 compared with 2014.

Dog Beach Opening Delayed Due to Beach Erosion

Evanston's Dog Beach will open no earlier than May 1 this season due to beach conditions. The City is investigating the option of moving sand to the area to create a larger beach space.
