Enjoy Musical Insights at the Merion February 12

Music note

Evanston Symphony Orchestra’s (ESO) Musical Insights offers a prelude to each concert. Hosted by The Merion of Evanston, Musical Insights is a free, hour-long lecture and recital that occurs at 1:30 p.m. on the Friday before each concert. The event lends insights into the upcoming concert, but is also a musical event of its own where Maestro Lawrence Eckerling and soloists perform. ESO’s General Manager offers commentary and musical video and CD excerpts. Refreshments are served.

On Friday, February 12, the Levy bus will depart for The Merion at 1:10 p.m. and return at 2:50 p.m. If you'd like a ride, please register at the front desk. The ESO’s Sunday, February 14 concert, Harmonica Meets American Classics, will be held at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall at 2:30 p.m. Evanston’s Howard Levy is the supreme virtuoso of the harmonica, and he makes his ESO debut playing his own Concerto for Diatonic Harmonica and Orchestra, as well as improvising special interludes within Gershwin’s classic Porgy and Bess orchestral suite.
