IDL Fire Suppression Expenses
As of Tuesday, August 3, 2026, IDL has spent a total of approximately $23.3 million on fire suppression activities. Approximately $6.5 million of that is reimbursable to IDL for assisting other agencies on their fires, leaving a total estimated net obligation to the General Fund of $16.8 million so far this year.

Status of Major Fires on IDL Protection

IDL Incident Management Team Fires to Date
Ohio Fire
-
The Ohio Fire was an Idaho Department of Lands jurisdictional incident within the East Idaho Forest Protective District but was managed by the United States Wildland Fire Service (USWFS) under cooperative protection agreements. USWFS assumed initial management on July 18, with command transferring to a Type 3 Incident Management Team on July 20 and returning to the local unit on July 23. The fire burned 2,035 acres.
Greer Fire
- The Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association (CPTPA) responded to the fire July 10. Management was transferred to the North Idaho Incident Management Team on July 12. On July 18 management was returned to the Timber Protection Association. The final acreage of the fire was 353 acres.
Gold Run Fire
- The Cataldo Forest Protective District initiated attack of the fire on June 16. Management was transferred to the North Idaho Incident Management Team on June 17. On June 23 management was returned to the district The final acreage for the fire was 217 acres.
