Controller Brandon Woolf gave kudos to IDL’s fire team. He asked if with the new Master Fire Agreement the federal partners will be tracking fire size, costs and savings as IDL has done and if they will provide the information to IDL. Director Dustin Miller said he would ask the question of the feds.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield asked who pays for the $17 million in firefighting costs. Director Miller gave a high level overview of costs. Governor Brad Little stated it was from the Fire Deficiency Fund allocated by the legislature.

The Governor asked about the amount left in the Fire Deficiency Fund and the amount there would be going into next fire season. The director stated there will be approximately $64 million going into next year.

The Governor asked about prescribed burning. The director said IDL is doing some prescribed burning as is the BLM and Forest Service. The Governor asked if funds for IDL’s burning comes out of operations and not fire. The director confirmed that is the case.

The Governor asked about a report for real estate investments. EFIB Manager Chris Anton explained the reports they receive are usually delayed and out of date. He noted they will try to find a way to better report.
