Clearwater City Council Candidate Forum
June 23, 6:30 p.m., Council Chambers, 100 N. Osceola Ave.
 The city of Clearwater will host a candidate forum before the upcoming municipal election, when Clearwater residents will vote to fill city council seats 4 and 5. The forum will be 6:30 p.m. June 23 in Council Chambers at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave. Comments will not be taken from the public, and the forum will be moderated by former Spectrum Bay News 9 anchor Al Ruechel.
The public is invited to attend in person, stream live or stream after the event at MyClearwater.com/CityCouncilMeetings or YouTube.com/MyClearwater. The forum can also be watched live on C-View TV Spectrum Channel 638, Frontier Channel 30 and WOW! Channel 15.
Election Day is Aug. 18 for Clearwater City Council seats 4 and 5.

North Greenwood Recreation Center Solar Celebration

 Clearwater residents are invited to celebrate the city’s latest leap toward clean energy at a Solar Celebration 1:30 to 3 p.m. June 27, at the North Greenwood Recreation Center, 900 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
This free, family-friendly event celebrates the installation of a 246 kW DC solar system, featuring 600 solar panels that will help power the facility while reducing environmental impact.
This installation is among the city-owned solar systems that became operational in 2025. Together, the projects support Clearwater's efforts to reduce energy costs, improve operational efficiency and expand the use of clean energy at city facilities.

 The last Saturday of every month is your exclusive night for non-stop Latin heat, phenomenal music, and the most welcoming dance community in Clearwater.  Calling all brides! Come to the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center for the Clearwater Beach Wedding Expo from noon to 4 p.m. June 28. See the Clearwater Beach Social Hall fully decorated for a wedding while meeting top wedding vendors in the area. Giveaways and samples will be provided. The recreation center is located at 69 Bay Esplanade in Clearwater.

County-Owned Downtown Properties Open for Redevelopment
 A significant redevelopment opportunity is taking shape in downtown Clearwater as Pinellas County seeks proposals for approximately 24.6 acres of county-owned property that will become available when government operations relocate to a new campus.
The city and county share a vision for creating a vibrant, mixed-use downtown with new housing, businesses, entertainment and employment opportunities that support long-term economic growth and activate the downtown core.
Community Gathers for Hurricane Preparedness on the Roof
 Last week, the Main Library hosted Hurricane Preparedness on the Roof, bringing residents together for an engaging and informative evening focused on hurricane readiness.
Attendees learned valuable storm preparation tips from Clearwater Emergency Management, and one of the highlights of the event came when firefighters surprised everyone by climbing a ladder up the side of the building to the rooftop terrace to greet attendees and answer questions.
It was a memorable evening filled with useful information, community connections and a few surprises.
Clearwater Library Pet Supply Donation Drive
Help support local animals in need through the Clearwater Library's Pet Supply Donation Drive, underway now through July 31. Donations of pet food, toys, leashes, bedding and other supplies can be dropped off at Clearwater Public Library locations, recreation centers, Station 45, the Beach Marina and the Municipal Services Building. All donations will benefit the Suncoast Animal League.
Night at North Ward
July 30, 5:30 to 8 p.m., 900 N. Fort Harrison Ave.
 Residents, community stakeholders, developers, investors and preservation advocates are invited to tour the landmark property, learn about its history and explore possibilities for its future redevelopment and reuse. The evening will include self-guided tours, community conversations, music and refreshments.

North Greenwood Community Meeting

 Clearwater’s Planning and Development team will host a North Greenwood Land Use and Zoning Next Steps Community Meeting at 6:30 p.m. June 30, at the North Greenwood Recreation Center, 900 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Room 2.
Local residents and business owners are invited to hear updates on the North Greenwood CRA Plan land use and zoning implementation, including upcoming next steps for the Planned Redevelopment District overlay.

 Please be aware of these road and lane closures happening in the city of Clearwater:
- Utility adjustments on Drew Street began June 15 and go through June 26, in preparation for a Florida Department of Transportation project scheduled to start later in 2026. A westbound lane reduction will be in place between Corona and Duncan avenues near Keene Road, with temporary closures at Duncan, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars avenues. Follow posted detours, use caution and allow extra travel time.
- Roadwork began last week on Lotus Path near property number 805, and it will last for about four to five weeks, due to a sewer main replacement.
- The westbound lane of Jeffords Street is currently closed between Myrtle and South Fort Harrison avenues through July 1, due to utility repairs.
- Pierce Street between Osceola and Fort Harrison avenues is closed now through Sept. 15, while crews complete utility connections and structural work. A temporary lane shift on Osceola Avenue is also anticipated later this summer.
- Sanitary sewer system improvements will be in progress in the Stewart Boulevard area July 6, to strengthen existing sewer pipes and improve reliability during hurricane season. Residents may experience temporary traffic impacts while a bypass system is in place. All utility services will remain active throughout the project.

 Clearwater residents who may be interested in bringing solar energy into their home can save through Switch Together, a group-buying program offered in partnership with nonprofit Solar United Neighbors. The program connects households with vetted solar installers and offers discounts on solar systems, battery storage and electric vehicle chargers.
More than 16,600 households have already accepted offers through the program, with participating households expected to save an average of $7,475 on solar installation costs. Registration is free and carries no obligation.
