Boulder County Remains at COVID-19 Level Blue, Moving to Level Clear May 16

Covid dial blue

The Town of Superior remains at Level Blue on Boulder County's COVID-19 dial until May 15. Beginning May 16, if new hospital admissions remain low, Boulder County will be moving to Level Clear for a 90-day observation period. Under Level Clear, local capacity restrictions and mitigation are no longer required but may be encouraged. Masks may still be required under state or local order, and if the state continues any orders, those state restrictions will apply in Boulder County. For more information regarding levels and metrics, please visit the Boulder County Dial Framework webpage.

All Coloradans age 16 and older are now eligible to receive the vaccine free of charge. To find locations and to register for the vaccine: Visit the State of Colorado ‘Where Can I get Vaccinated?’ website or Boulder County’s COVID-19 Vaccine website. Town Facilities Transition to 100% Renewable

Windsource image

In February, the Town Board accepted five environmental sustainability goals recommended by the Advisory Committee for Environmental Sustainability. In addition to goals related to air quality, energy, water and waste, a goal was established to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Town of Superior at least 25 percent below 2005 emissions by 2025. The Town is eager to start making progress towards these goals and recognizes that achieving them requires effective, responsible and resilient municipal operations.

At the end of April, the Town transitioned 100% of its municipal electricity use to Xcel Energy’s Windsource® program, taking the first big step to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Town operations. Windsource® is a subscription-based program that provides customers with the opportunity to offset their electricity consumption with wind power for an additional $0.015 per kilowatt hour. Customers subscribed to Windsource® earn renewable energy credits, which allow households, businesses, municipalities and institutions to commit to clean energy even when onsite renewables are not an option.

Transitioning to Windsource® gave the Town an immediate opportunity to makes its operations more sustainable. Residents and businesses can explore both on and offsite renewable energy options available to them by visiting Xcel Energy’s Renewable Energy webpage.

Save Water

Despite the heavy snow that hit the front range in March, dry conditions still cover 100% of the state with 62% of the state in severe, extreme, or exceptional drought categories. The low-to-average levels of snowpack, coupled with 2020 being a record hot, dry year with wildfires that affected critical watershed areas has sent many North Metro areas into Drought Watch, where water conditions are closely monitored to make determinations on if water restrictions will be necessary. All water customers in the North Metro area are encouraged to find ways to save water now to help prevent drought restrictions and maintain water supply throughout the summer. View recommendations on how to save money and protect future water supplies.

Important Reminders

Cabot Dune Gray

Fence Maintenance Reminder

Spring is the season to spruce-up outdoor areas and the Town will begin annual fence maintenance. This year, section #2 (Paint Rotation map) will receive a new coat of paint and any minor exterior repair that may be necessary. As a reminder, the Town is responsible for exterior painting and minor repair on the outside face of fence sections that abut Town right-of-way or open space/greenbelt areas. Residents are responsible for the inside of this fencing, which includes posts and crossbeams, or "stringers”. For homeowners who would like to match the Town fence color, it is Cabot Dune Gray - Solid Stain, available at Lowe's. Please contact the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department with questions at 303-499-3675.
