The Town developed the Small Business Emergency Relief Grant Program to help Superior business owners affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Town greatly values our small businesses and restaurants with a brick-and-mortar presence in our community, and established this program to provide either a $5,000 or $10,000 grant to help offset some of the economic impact due to the pandemic. Over the last month the Town has approved 32 grants and awarded $210,000 to businesses here.
Most households should have received their invitation to respond by August 14th. You can respond online, by visiting 2020census.gov or to complete the census by phone call 844-330-2020 (English) or 844-468-2020 (Spanish).
Superior Residents - as most of you are aware, census invitations are being mailed to Superior residents with “Louisville” listed as the city name. No need to worry, the census is based on the physical address and not the zip code.

Virtual Arbor Day Event a Big Hit!
More than 4,000 people were reached in this year’s Virtual Arbor Day! While we didn’t get to experience a live tree planting, one could partake in the online activities, including e-meeting the goats who will be grazing our weeds, downloading and color tree-themed coloring pages, reading a poem about trees, and of course the Creative Contest. Thanks to the creatives who participated and submitted their very own handiwork. Give a round of applause to the winners:

Community Swimming Pools UPDATE
The current Stay at Home Order issued by Boulder County Public Health due to COVID-19 does not permit the opening of recreation centers and related facilities such as outdoor pools. Due to this the originally scheduled opening date of May 22 for North and South Pool is being re-evaluated as recent recommendations dictate a need to alter how or if these services can be provided to the public for this summer. Opening of these facilities will be determined on new orders and guidelines from Boulder County Public Health along with new case data and other relevant information. Please visit www.superiorrec.com for the latest information and updates.

Superior Chamber of Commerce
Since starting their “Hungry Hungry Heroes” campaign, the Superior Chamber of Commerce has donated more than $6,000 in meals from area restaurants and caterers to shifts at Avista Adventist and Good Samaritan Hospitals. “We even got some meals to postal workers, county sheriffs, and area elementary school teachers to thank them for their extraordinary hard work in the face of the COVID-19 crisis,” said the chamber’s executive T.J. Sullivan. Donors from Superior and surrounding towns were incredibly generous. The Chamber even received donations from as far away as Ohio! The campaign is ongoing. To donate, please visit http://www.superiorchamber.com/heroes.

At the Firehouse
As Colorado and Boulder County (May 8) transition to a “Safer At Home” phase there are key actions you should continue to take for your family’s and your safety and well-being. First and foremost, wash those hands. Soap and water, 20 seconds and frequently throughout the day. Stay up to date on CDC, Colorado and Boulder County guidelines for “social and physical distancing” and follow recommendations for limiting your movement in our communities.
For your safety and our responders’, Rocky Mountain Fire is continuing to take strict precautions when running emergency calls. Our firefighters continue to wear personal protective equipment on all calls. Procedures are in place to decontaminate and sanitize our vehicles and equipment when we are exposed to Covid-19 positive patients. Only the patient and a parent if a minor is involved will be transported by ambulance. Our stations remain closed to the public and birthday party drive by’s are still encouraged. If you have a small child at home, story time is posted on Facebook at 12:30 pm Monday through Friday. We’re proud to be in this together with you!

Commuting Solutions
Introducing Telework Tomorrow
This time of year we’re usually asking you to gear up for Bike to Work Day next month. Given the unprecedented and constantly evolving impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Denver region's Bike to Work Day event is postponed until Tuesday, September 22, 2020. The good news? This year our celebration will align with National Bike to Work Day!
Also on our radar is the newest trend in commuting: telework. In partnership with Way To Go, we’re launching the Telework Tomorrow Initiative to encourage employers to continue to offer telework options as we transition back to workplaces. As your local Commuter Consultants, Commuting Solutions, is here to help local businesses launch this free initiative with one-on-one guidance and an implementation toolkit complete.
