Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and County of Santa Clara County Public Health are holding a training on Talking to Youth About Birth Control Methods. The training will be virtual via Zoom on February 7, 2024 from 9 - 10 am.
Learning Objectives:
- List three considerations when speaking with youth about birth control methods
- Explain factors outside of efficacy (including those connected to implicit bias) that may be important to integrate into conversations with youth about birth control methods
- Interpret real life tricky questions from youth and demonstrate how they might be answered

Vaccine clinics will be held at the County of Santa Clara Public Health Hub in February.

Vaccines being offered:
- Free COVID vaccines for uninsured and underinsured people ages 19 and up
- Free Flu vaccines for anyone ages 3 years and up regardless of insurance.

Youth Events
The Downtown Youth Wellness Center (DYWC) is a Behavioral Health program dedicated to promoting a safe, supportive, and youth-focused environment that provides short term Behavioral Health services, focused on prevention and early intervention for youth ages 12-25. Services include same day access to brief behavioral health support, peer support, workshops, well-being groups, social and educational activities, linkage to services/case management (including medical and longer-term behavioral health services), life skills development, education and career planning, independent living skills, and other related care. The DYWC is a partnership between the Behavioral Health Services Department and Alum Rock Counseling Center.
DYWC operates Monday - Friday from 10 am to 7 pm.

Resources
On January 16, 2024, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) launched two free online behavioral health services platforms that are available to all California children, youth, and families, regardless of insurance coverage or immigration status.
The platforms, which are a part of the CalHOPE program, offer free one-on-one support with live coaches, a library of multimedia resources, wellness exercises, and peer communities moderated by trained behavioral health professionals.
BrightLife Kids, is for parents or caregivers and kids 0-12 years old and is available via iOS (on Android mid-2024).
Soluna, is for teens and young adults ages 13-25, and is available via iOS and Android.
