September 23rd Meeting Recap

Thank you for attending the Live Well San Diego Central Region Community Leadership Team Meeting on Monday, September 23rd!

Last month we had the opportunity to host Yuliana Briceño from the County of San Diego's Office of Emergency Services to present on disaster preparedness. She went over the steps community members should take to prepare for a disaster, including making a personal disaster plan and packing an emergency supplies kit. After the disaster preparedness presentation, each workgroup convened to review their workgroup plans and continue working toward reaching future workplan goals. Workgroups

Education & Economic Development Workgroup

Lead: Dr. Shellye Sledge (CSUSM)

Group Vision: A thriving Central Region where all individuals and families are empowered through equitable investments for economic and educational excellence.

Focus Area: The Education and Economic Development Workgroup is planning to organize a certificate education program on various career pathways that youth can explore.

Health & Wellbeing Workgroup

Co-leads: Samantha Williams (JIREH Providers) & Pamella Castillo (San Diego PACE)

Group Vision: The Central Region will foster a community-oriented health ecosystem where people of all ages who live, work, and play in the Central Region are healthy, safe, and thriving.

Focus Area: The Health and Well-Being workgroup is planning a mental health panel with resources and a resource symposium for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Housing For All Workgroup

Lead: Wilford Smith Jr. (Courage to Call & TURN BHS)

Group Vision: To shorten, reduce, and prevent the unhoused experience in San Diego County's Central Region by collaboratively working towards equitable housing for all.

Focus Area: The Housing for All workgroup is planning to host a resource fair and a workshop on renters’ right.

NEW! Poster Art Contest

The 2024 Live Well Advance Conference & School Summit invites artists of all ages to participate in our Poster Art Contest to showcase their talent and contribute to a powerful message of community collaboration!

We want to give our diverse participants from the San Diego region the opportunity to interpret the conference theme “Ripples of Change: The Power of Partnerships” through art as a medium, with a focus on building healthy, safe, and thriving communities through partnerships.

All Entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM on October 12, 2024.
