EASTERN PLACER BULLETIN | JUNE 20

Mike Boon Interview

Last week I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down for a brief interview with Mike Boon, Senior Chaplain and Executive Director of the Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy. Mike has been instrumental in providing essential spiritual, emotional, and mental support to our law enforcement officers, their families, as well as the citizens of Placer County.

In the interview, Mike discusses the invaluable mission of the chaplaincy, which involves supporting officers during times of crisis and providing comfort to citizens experiencing tragic loss. It also highlights the upcoming event at Palisades Tahoe, an annual gathering that has become a cherished tradition for community leaders. This event offers a wonderful opportunity to relax, network, and celebrate the critical work of the chaplaincy in a casual and enjoyable atmosphere.

I encourage everyone to consider sponsoring this wonderful event or supporting the chaplaincy through monthly donations. For more information on sponsorship and ticket options, visit placerchaplains.com.

Your support makes a significant difference in the lives of those who serve and protect our community. We look forward to seeing you at Palisades Tahoe! LEARN MORE + WATCH VIDEO

OVER 100 COMMUNITY MEMBERS MAKE INAUGURAL DISCOVER & DISCOVER COMMUNITY EVENT A SUCCESS

Discover and Discuss Event

Last month Placer County invited members of the public to our inaugural "Discover and Discuss" event in North Lake Tahoe to ask questions and share feedback about regional projects and programs. Over 120 community members joined 30 county staff and ten partner agencies at the event in Kings Beach to learn more about shaping the vision of a vibrant, healthy, and sustainable Tahoe. From housing to transportation, construction to land use, participants had a chance to meet face-to-face with regional experts, ask questions and provide feedback. It was an invaluable opportunity to learn about the diverse range of initiatives, programs, and projects enriching our region. TAHOE FUND INSTALLS NEW DONOR-ENGRAVED BEARS IN TAHOE CITY'S HERITAGE PLAZA

Heritage bears

Twenty-five new engraved bears are now hanging from the railings in Tahoe City’s Heritage Plaza through a partnership with the Tahoe Fund, Placer County and the Tahoe City Public Utility District to raise money for trails in North Lake Tahoe. Since launching the new program this fall, more than $100,000 has been raised for trails through the generosity of private donors. The engraved bears, originally available along the popular Tahoe East Shore Trail, have been embraced by those who love Tahoe and want a way to memorialize their investment and commitment to improving the Tahoe environment for all to enjoy. “Partnerships like this with the Tahoe Fund not only help bring important trail projects to fruition, they demonstrate the value our community places on projects that enhance the Tahoe experience for all,” said Cindy Gustafson, Placer County District 5 Supervisor.
