Maximum Potential Basketball Winter Break Camp is designed to help improve an individual's strength, knowledge, and overall development of basketball. Join this camp and you will be able to fulfill your aspirations. Learn the basics and advanced movements of the game. We will also cover dribbling, passing, shooting, and agility. ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME!!!!
Mark Herring of Hoopapalooza Inc. will be the instructor. Coach Herring has worked with the likes of Coach Krzyzewski (“Coach K”, Duke University’s Men’s Basketball Coach, Retired and Coach of Team USA’s Redeem Team featuring Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and more), Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Jason Tatum, and other NBA Stars. The City of Glendale invites community agencies interested in applying for Community Development Block Grant Funding for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 to attend a MANDATORY Technical Assistance Meeting as detailed above, after which agencies will receive a link to our online grant management system, ZoomGrants, to begin the application process. Community agencies who do not attend the meeting will not be eligible to apply.

Citywide Traffic & Mobility Study
The City of Glendale Public Works Department has launched the Citywide Traffic and Mobility Study, which will improve how we get around the City to everyday destinations for all travel modes and all Glendale community members.
All community members, whether you walk, bike, drive and/or take transit through Glendale, are invited to take a brief survey: CTMS survey. All survey participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $50 gift cards. Free Food Distribution for Qualifying Seniors

Registration for December swim lessons is NOW OPEN!
January swim lesson registration begins Tuesday, December 31 at 9:00 AM for verified residents and 10:00 AM for everyone.
The Glendale Gators swim and Glendale Polo Bears water polo teams are taking a winter break, but will start back up in the spring, tentatively March 3 – May 23, 2025. Registration for spring teams will begin on February 25, 2025.
Lesson spaces may fill up quickly, so be sure you have your residency verified and that you have a current online account before registering. You can log in at MyGlendaleParks.com to verify your account, and when registering, make sure to refresh your page if there are any delays.

Fiesta de Las Luminarias

Glendale Beautiful invites you to see the historic Casa Adobe de San Rafael surrounded in candlelight for the Fiesta de Las Luminarias. This is a FREE event for Glendale residents and community members to participate in. Enjoy traditional refreshments and entertainment at the adobe and park!
Throughout the year, volunteer members of Glendale Beautiful, a local non-profit dedicated to keeping our city beautiful and preserving our early California history, host an open house at the historic Casa Abode de San Rafael from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the 1st Sunday of each month. Information describing the Casa in Armenian, English, and Spanish is available, and docents can answer questions and share other historical background during the open house. The historic casa was built for Tomas and Maria Sanchez from adobe bricks made on site. The home was completed in 1871 and is furnished in late 19th-century style. Casa Adobe is listed under California Landmark #235 and Glendale Register of Historic Resources #3.

GLENDALE OUTDOORS! (GO!) COMMUNITY PROGRAM

With a different nature theme each month, this free family nature program is all about getting outdoors and exploring! Join us for an interpretive hike, a nature craft, and a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center. Water, snacks and free bus transportation from Pacific Park Community Center, leaving at 8:30 AM and returning at 12:30 PM, are provided. Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus, but you may choose to meet us at the park. Funding for the bus is provided by Metro, a partner in our community.
Each person planning to attend must submit an RSVP form by December 11 @ 3:00 PM, including children and adults.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Are you interested in being a Trail Safety Patrol volunteer for the City of Glendale?
As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks. The TSP consists of two units: The Mountain Bike Unit and the Hike Unit. TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check, City-mandated trail safety training, attend a First Aid/CPR certification class, be in good health, and devote a minimum of two hours per month.
