Progress is being made on the Centerville Train Depot Plaza Improvements Project. This week, the project received approval from the City’s Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB) on the final concept plan. The project will now move forward with the design phase, which will be complete by the end of 2026, and construction is expected to start in the summer of 2027.
The project is being funded by a $1.5 million Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities grant in partnership with the RCD Housing project at 3900 Thornton Avenue. The project will improve access to transit to support affordable housing projects in the Centerville area. Additionally, the project will create a gateway and landmark for the Centerville community and allow for the plaza to be utilized as a gathering and event space for community residents. Please visit the project website for more information.

The Villa Ellsworth project plan includes 17 new residential units (14 townhouse‑style condominiums and three condominium flats) designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style; 2,476 square feet of commercial retail space; and streetscape improvements designed to improve walkability, support placemaking, and reinforce the area’s historic village character.
