The City of El Segundo has two City Council seats up for election on November 8th and the five candidates are incumbent Chris Pimentel, Ryan Baldino, Michelle Keldorf, Robin Patch, and John Pickhaver.
The City will have three ballot measures including a business license tax measure, a city cannabis measure, and a cannabis tax measure. Measure and resolution information is posted on the City’s website.
- Vote-by-Mail ballots will be mailed to all registered voters and the City’s Drop Box will open on October 10th. Sample ballots mailed to registered voters on October 18th
- Last day to register to vote (Register online at LAVote.net) is October 24th
- The 10-day vote centers open on October 29th and the 4-day vote centers will open on November 5th. The Teen Center in El Segundo is a 4-day vote center.
- On November 8th vote centers open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

El Segundo Chamber of Commerce's 2022 State of the City

West Basin Calls for No Outdoor Watering for 15 Days in September
Starting Tuesday, September 6th, residents and businesses in portions of greater Los Angeles County, including the El Segundo service area, are being asked to suspend outdoor watering from September 6-20th (15 days) due to the emergency repair of a major Metropolitan Water District pipeline that delivers water to West Basin. Learn how to prepare for the shutdown and what steps you can take to save water indoors and maintain landscapes while the pipeline is being repaired.
Please note - Residents and businesses that use reclaimed water are not subject to the temporary suspension of outdoor watering or the ongoing potable water conservation restrictions.

The Main St. Fair, an outdoor celebration covering five city blocks with 120+ booths for artisans, designers, photographers, food, and live music, is set for Saturday, September 24th from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The fair is a 30-year-old local tradition that brings together school groups, non-profits, sports teams, local eateries, and more than 3,000 community members to enjoy fun in the sun on the streets of downtown El Segundo.
The Main Street Fair is produced by the El Segundo Kiwanis Club and is a fundraiser benefiting children’s needs throughout El Segundo and the South Bay. Check out all the details on the Kiwanis website!
Saturday, September 10th
El Segundo Firefighters will serve a delicious pancake breakfast to the community at this annual event that brings together firefighters and hundreds of community members to share a meal and remember lives lost on 9/11. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, September 10th at Fire Station #1, located at 314 Main St., from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Food is provided by local vendors, and all proceeds go to local charities.
Summertime, Summertime A Community Juried Art Exhibition, runs through September 30th
El Segundo Public Library's Summertime, Summertime: A Community Juried Art Exhibition is on display through Friday, September 30th at the El Segundo Public Library. The exhibit features 2-dimensional artwork, including painting, photography, photomontage, collage, drawing, printmaking, etc. that celebrates summer. Fall Recreation Guide Now Available
The Fall 2022 Recreation Activity Guide is now available! Click here to view the complete guide and learn more about all the recreation classes and activities the El Segundo Recreation, Parks & Library Department has to offer.
Registration is now open, to register for classes and activities, visit esrec.org and click on the “Fall 2022” tab. Additionally, in-person registration is available at the Clubhouse, Checkout Building and Joslyn Center.
El Segundo residents with a valid Rec ID receive a discount on all recreation activities, as well as facility and outdoor rentals. Rec IDs can be purchased or renewed at the Checkout Building, Clubhouse, Joslyn Center and Aquatics Center. If you are planning to purchase or renew your Rec ID, please bring 2 forms of identification that show an El Segundo residency (for example, a driver’s license and utility bill).

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee Seeks Your Input

Richmond Street to Reopen for Vehicles January 2023
Outdoor dining was allowed on Richmond Street as an emergency provision during the pandemic to help support the restaurants in the area. At the May 3, 2022 meeting City Council extended the use of Richmond Street for outdoor dining through the end of 2022. Richmond Street will reopen for vehicular traffic in January 2023. Thank you to all who supported El Segundo’s Downtown restaurants during the pandemic.
Water Conservation Meeting
Join City officials and local agencies for an educational water conservation meeting on Monday, September 19th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Topics include energy efficiency and water conservation techniques and information about rebates and incentives. Join the meeting in person at City Council Chamber located at 350 Main Street or via Zoom.

Tune into LA Unscripted on KTLA-TV, Channel 5 on Wednesday, September 7th at 7:00 p.m. for a full half-hour episode about the City of El Segundo! You can also watch the episode here on YouTube. This Emmy-winning lifestyle show showcases the best things to do in Southern California. The El Segundo episode features feature host Dayna Devon and Mayor Drew Boyles hitting balls at Topgolf and segments about R6 Distillery, El Segundo Museum of Art (ESMoA), Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum, and Old Town Music Hall. Jame Enoteca will also be featured in a future show.

New Battalion Chief
Newly-appointed Battalion Chief Ryan Allee has served the El Segundo Fire Department as a firefighter, paramedic and captain and worked in El Segundo for 21 years. He will be responsible for mitigating emergencies that pose a threat to public safety.

New Fire Captain
Newly-appointed Captain Curt Crowson has served as a firefighter and a paramedic, also serving the El Segundo Fire Department for 21 years. His duties include protecting life and property and supervising shift personnel.
