The El Segundo Police Department is hosting National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2nd on the 300 block of Main Street from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Come out and meet your El Segundo Police Department and see various demonstrations include SWAT, drone and defensive tactics. Learn more about the event here.
Catalytic converter etching will also be available free-of-charge. Mechanics will permanently engrave your vehicle's license plate number on your converter to discourage thieves and engraving helps police investigate if it is stolen. Space is limited, register soon - register here.

Family Campout
Join the fun at the Family Campout at Stevenson Field in Recreation Park! Residents and guests are invited to bring tents and camp out under the stars from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13th until 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 14th. Check out this fun info video!
No camping experience? No worries, we’ve got you covered. The campout includes a BBQ dinner, activities, s’mores over a campfire, and a movie screening at dusk. After a night of quiet rest, a continental breakfast is provided bright and early in the morning.
Due to preparation needs, this event is pre-sale only, and wristband sales end on August 2nd. Wristbands are required for entry starting at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. No alcohol or pets are allowed. For more information, please call 310-524-2362.

The El Segundo City Council established the DEI Committee in 2020 to work with City employees and the community to identify and gain a deeper understanding of DEI-related concerns pertaining to City programs and services.

Summertime, Summertime Art Exhibit
The El Segundo Public Library encourages community members who live, work and/or play in El Segundo to submit artwork for Summertime, Summertime: A Community Juried Art Exhibition. This art show will feature 2-dimensional artwork, including painting, photography, photocollage, photomontage, collage, drawing, printmaking, etc. that celebrates summer. Final Summer Concert in the Park
The Summer Concerts in the Park series wraps up on Sunday, August 7th from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., with Boogie Star, an electric dance/blues band. There will be food trucks, so bring an appetite and get ready to get your groove on! Blankets can be placed in the park after 1:00 p.m., and kids’ crafts and giveaways will be available in the Gazebo starting at 4:00 p.m. Chairs are allowed, but no glass containers or plastic tarps, please. The Spongebob Musical
The El Segundo Youth Drama presents "The Spongebob Musical" for ages 5-18. Tickets are on sale for $8 per person and will increase to $10 per person on August 12th and can be purchased at ESREC.org or in-person at the George E. Gordon Clubhouse. Performances will be at the George E. Gordon Clubhouse on August 12th at 7:00 p.m., August 13th at 7:00 p.m., and August 14th at 2:00 p.m.. Go Fly a Kite Day
Join the annual Go Fly a Kite Day on Sunday, August 7th from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Dust off your kites and bring them to Recreation Park to participate in the festivities including music, arts and crafts and vendors offering all your favorite picnic foods!
Free kites will be offered on a first come, first serve basis as we have a limited supply. This event is open to all ages and is a great opportunity to spend the day with family and friends. Check out this great info video!
And for the first time, there will be a kite contest! Kites will be judged on visual appeal, craftsmanship, and flight. Entries are due by 11:30 a.m. with flight demonstrations starting at 12:00 p.m. Each "pilot" is allowed one "co-pilot" during the flight demonstration and first, second, and third place winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m. Not able to make it? Just a few special-themed Farmers’ Markets to go! Through August 18th there will be exciting activities, arts and crafts, games, prizes, live entertainment, face painting, bouncers, craft projects, and giveaways. 7th Annual El Segundo Art Walk, Saturday, August 27th Kick-Off Concert Friday, August 26th
Art enthusiasts and community members are invited to the 7th Annual El Segundo Art Walk (ESAW) on Saturday, August 27th from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. taking place in the Smoky Hollow and Downtown neighborhoods of El Segundo. This event brings together more than 50 artists in over 40 venues.
With many Art Walk activities on Main, Eucalyptus, Franklin, and Penn Streets, visitors are encouraged to arrive early and visit the different exhibitions and pop-up galleries. Attendees can pick up maps, purchase art, sample beer from El Segundo Brewing Company and Boulevard Brewing, and enjoy live music at the ESAW Headquarters located at 314 Main Street from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
New this year, the ESAW will host a free kick-off concert on Friday, August 27th from 6:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. For the latest news and information, please visit their website and this info video here!

Hilltop Pool & Competition Pool Are Open
Hilltop Pool is open every day through August 22nd. It is free for residents with a valid El Segundo Rec ID and $5.50 for non-residents. Space can also be rented to host a party on Thursdays – Sundays. Check out this helpful info video. The El Segundo Wiseburn Aquatics Center Competition Pool is open for for lap swim and permit groups. Please note, the heaters are still under repair, the water temperature may be lower than expected, and that guests are swimming at their own risk. Mark your calendars! The El Segundo Firefighters Association will serve a delicious pancake breakfast to the community at this annual event commemorating the tragic attack on 9-11. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, September 10th, at Fire Station #1 (314 Main St) from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. We appreciate the opportunity to remember this somber day with the community, so we will never forget. All proceeds go to local charities, and local vendors provide food. More details to come, and hope to see you there!
Updates from the El Segundo Fire Department
The El Segundo Fire Department (ESFD) continues to work on various projects and programs as it enters the new fiscal year. The department was deployed to the Coast Fire Strike Team in Orange County and hosted community events such as the Firefighter Storytime, My Daddy Rules the World Event (both in collaboration with El Segundo Public Library), CPR Saturday, Open House-Fire Service Day, and the first annual Fired Up! Girls Camp. ESFD looks forward to planning more outreach activities and collaborating with the Center for Public Safety Excellence on its accreditation process.

E-Bike Safety Course
 On Saturday, August 13th, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., learn about e-bike-specific laws and road rules, followed by a skills course by expert instructors from the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition. Main Street Car Show
 The El Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the El Segundo Police Officers Association and the Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum will host the Main Street Car Show on August 20th from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. There will be cars, live music, food and breweries.
