Council Swearing-In Ceremony
On Thursday, December 12, the City of Cupertino held its annual Council Swearing-In Ceremony at Community Hall. A new Mayor and Vice-Mayor were sworn in. The Council is now arranged as follows: Mayor Liang Chao, Vice Mayor Kitty Moore, Councilmember Mohan, Councilmember JR Fruen, and Councilmember R “Ray” Wang.

City of Cupertino Holiday Closures
As a reminder, on Monday, December 23, City Hall will offer virtual services to members of the public. The City Hall lobby will remain open for walk-ins, however, in-person services will only be available by appointment on that day. City Hall will be closed from Tuesday, December 24, to Wednesday, January 1, in observance of the holiday season. Normal operating schedule will resume on Thursday, January 2.

Mayor Mohan Hosts Final Chai and Chat
On Monday, December 9, Mayor Mohan hosted her final Chai and Chat event as Mayor of Cupertino at Holder's Country Inn. The event provided an opportunity for community members to engage with the Mayor and discuss a variety of topics of local interest.
Holiday Events
On Friday, December 6, the Homestead Choir and Mustang Cheer Team brought joy to the crowd as we lit up the tree with Santa at the Community Tree Lighting. On Saturday, December 7, families gathered for Breakfast with Santa, enjoying festive crafts like reindeer ornaments, writing letters to Santa, and a delicious pancake breakfast. Every family got to take home a special photo with Santa.
On Saturday, December 14, the deaf and hard of hearing community came together for Signing Santa, a unique annual event where Santa communicates in American Sign Language (ASL). Additionally, the Cupertino Senior Center hosted festive programs like Holidays in Hawaii, the Holiday Sing-Along, and the Season’s Greetings Cookie Box.

Holiday Shop Local -Support Local Businesses
The City of Cupertino, in collaboration with the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, is concluding its 2024 Holiday Cupertino Shop Local campaign, which will run through Tuesday, December 31. This initiative aims to support local businesses by leveraging digital marketing to engage the community throughout the holiday season.

2025 Streetlight Banner Art Contest
Cupertino Safe Routes to School program has launched its 2025 Streetlight Banner Art Contest! This contest gives high school students living in or attending school in Cupertino a chance to showcase their creativity to the entire Cupertino community. We're inviting students to create banner art that will promote the following key City transportation themes/programs:
- The Joys of Walking and Biking
- Walk & Roll to School Events
- The Environmental Benefits of Sustainable Transportation
- Silicon Valley (SV) Hopper
- Cupertino’s Vision Zero Action Plan
Winning designs will be displayed on streetlights along DeAnza Boulevard, Stevens Creek Boulevard, Torre Avenue, and Stelling Road. Designs should be submitted by Friday, February 28, 2025. You can read more and submit your entry.

Green Business Rebates & Incentives Workshop
On Thursday, December 5, the City of Cupertino, in partnership with Silicon Valley Clean Energy, the County of Santa Clara, and the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, hosted an informative workshop to highlight the incentives and rebate programs available to local business and commercial property owners.
Alan Townhomes Public Grand Opening
On Monday, December 9, Alan Enterprise LLC held a public ribbon-cutting ceremony at the development site located at 22540 Stevens Creek Boulevard. The completed project features nine townhomes and one Below Market Rate (BMR) unit.
Cupertino Symphonic Band's Winter Concert
On Sunday, December 22, the Cupertino Symphonic Band will perform traditional and contemporary holiday classics at the Quinlan Community Center. Admission is free.
