2024 CREST Award Nominations are Open
The inaugural Cupertino Community Service Awards will take place on Saturday, November 16. This ceremony will recognize the winners of the 2024 CREST (Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken) Awards and Commissioners who served on a Cupertino Commission. The City of Cupertino is now accepting nominations for the CREST Awards, to honor the outstanding contributions of volunteers in Cupertino. The CREST Award categories are Volunteer of the Year, Organization of the Year, Rising Star, and Lifetime Achievement. If you know someone who deserves recognition for going above and beyond for their community, submit a nomination by Friday, August 30.

City of Cupertino Receives Delegation Visits
This week, the City of Cupertino hosted two delegation visits and one leadership visit. These visits are an opportunity for cultural exchange and understanding. The City is proud of its Sister and Friendship City relationships that foster international cooperation at a local level.
On Monday, July 22, a group of Taiwanese students from the Asian Pacific American Leadership Institute (APALI) visited City Hall to gain insights into Cupertino's local governance and civic life.
On Tuesday, July 23, the City hosted a delegation from our Friendship City Xianning, China. Delegates visited City and Community Hall to learn about culture, education, and economic development in Cupertino. Xianning Vice Mayor Li Li attended the visit
On Thursday, July 25, the City welcomed a delegation from Friendship City Taichung, Taiwan. Deputy Mayor Huang led the delegation. Delegates learned about sustainability efforts in Cupertino and how the City plans to add more affordable housing through the City's adopted Housing Element.

Chat and Chai with Cupertino Mayor
July's Chai and Chat with Mayor Mohan took place at Berraco Coffee at 19110 Stevens Creek Boulevard. Members of the public were present to discuss topics of interest with Mayor Mohan during the event.
Under the Stars at Cupertino Campout
Cupertino Parks and Recreation's annual Cupertino Campout occurred from Saturday, July 20, to Sunday, July 21, at Creekside Park. More than 190 campers enjoyed a night under the stars, engaging in mobile recreation activities and crafts, making s'mores, and watching a special outdoor screening of Disney's Up. The event wrapped up with a delightful continental breakfast.

Join the Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities Inc. in celebrating Community Bell Ringing for Peace on Saturday, August 6, at 6 p.m. The ceremony will be held at Cupertino Memorial Park near the corner of Alves Drive and Anton Way.
India Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony
Join the City of Cupertino and Cupertino-Bhubaneswar Sister City Initiative as we celebrate the 78th India Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony. The event will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, at the Civic Center Plaza.
