 City of Belmont Holiday Closure
The City of Belmont’s administrative offices will close for the holidays starting Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Please note our last business day of the year will be Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
During this time:
- Emergency services will remain fully operational.
- There will be no eNews publication. The eNews will resume on Friday, January 3, 2025.
- All City Council and Commission meetings will be canceled. The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
As we close out another wonderful year, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to the Belmont community. Your continued support, involvement, and spirit make Belmont such a special place to live, work, and visit. City of Belmont Announces Daylighting Law Implementation
The daylighting law, Assembly Bill 413, prohibits stopping, standing, or parking within 20 feet of the vehicle approach side of any marked or unmarked crosswalk or within 15 feet where (or bulb-out) is present. AB 413 took effect on Jan. 1, 2024, but warnings will be issued to first-time violators during the initial phase of enforcement starting on Jan. 1, 2025.

Belmont Seeks Resident Volunteers for Commissions
The City of Belmont invites residents to apply for positions on various City Commissions. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025. Interested individuals can apply online, by calling 650-595-7414, or in person at the City Clerk’s Office located at One Twin Pines Lane, Suite 330 (appointments suggested). 2025 Minimum Wage Reminder
Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, the minimum wage for the City of Belmont will be $18.30 per hour.

Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry and Essay Contest
Our 3rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Poetry & Essay Contest returns to Belmont this winter! The contest aims to both honor and celebrate the inspiring legacy of Dr. King, while giving students a platform to tell their story, reflect on his powerful message, and share their thoughts on today’s ever-changing world. Belmont youth in 3rd to 12th grade can submit a poem or essay reflecting on this year’s theme "Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘what are you doing for others?’” Eighteen student finalists will be selected to recite their piece at the Awards Ceremony scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27 in the Twin Pines Lodge. All finalists and winners will win monetary gift cards donated by our generous event sponsors!

Winter Ball for All
Join us for the new Winter Ball for All on Jan. 17, 2025 at Twin Pine Senior and Community Center from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This dance is for adults with disabilities and their loved ones. It will include refreshments, snacks, a DJ, and of course dancing! Please note, there will not be support staff present. Guardians or caregivers must attend to provide necessary support for your loved one.

Superstar and Sweetheart Dance
Save the date for our annual Superstar and Sweetheart Dances on Friday, Feb. 7 at the Twin Pines Senior and Community Center! The Superstar Dance is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and exclusively for youth with disabilities and their guardians. The Sweetheart Dance is from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and for youth ages 5-12 and their guardians. Both semi-formal dances include a live DJ, photobooth, crafts, refreshments, and a visit from a Disney princess!
