Happy Halloween!
Have fun and stay safe tonight! Whether you’re trick-or-treating, or driving through neighborhoods, watch for little ghosts and goblins on the move. Make sure costumes fit, use non-toxic makeup instead of masks, add reflective tape, bring a flashlight and check treats before eating. Stay alert and call 911 if you see anything unsafe or suspicious.
A special thank you to the more than 200 veterans, volunteers, public safety personnel and community partners who made The Wall That Heals possible earlier this month. Your efforts created a powerful week of remembrance and reflection for everyone who visited. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch our short recap video on YouTube.
Next up, our Veterans Day Ceremony is Tuesday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to noon at American Canyon Middle School Gymnasium (100 Benton Way). Join us as we honor and pay tribute to those who have served, with a keynote speaker, student performances, Veterans Service organization booths and refreshments.
We’re now accepting applications for the Community Grant Program through Friday, November 14. The Council has allocated up to $30,000 this year for this program. These grants support local nonprofits that make a difference in American Canyon. Learn more and apply here. For tourism-related efforts, organizations can apply to the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) Grant Program, which funds up to $5000 in projects that enhance visitor experiences and promote tourism in our city. Learn more and submit your application at AmericanCanyon.gov/TBID.
Have a safe and enjoyable Halloween weekend!
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

Earlier this month, American Canyon had the honor of hosting The Wall That Heals, a moving tribute to those who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War. What made this visit truly special was the way our community came together to make it possible.
More than 200 volunteers gave their time to welcome visitors, help locate names on the Wall and assist with setup and takedown. Their care and compassion ensured that every guest felt the respect and gratitude our city holds for those who served.
I want to thank the members of the Wall That Heals Planning Committee for their leadership and organization, as well as the American Canyon Police Department and the American Canyon Fire Protection District for their outstanding support. Special thanks also go to the American Canyon Wolves football team, who volunteered to help with takedown, and to the local military honor guard and community groups who participated in the ceremonies.
We were joined by several distinguished speakers, including Congressman Mike Thompson, a Vietnam veteran who shared words that reminded us of the enduring bonds of service and sacrifice. During the event, a proclamation was presented declaring October 16–19 as The Wall That Heals Week in American Canyon.
As we look ahead, our annual Veterans Day Ceremony will take place on Monday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to noon at American Canyon Middle School, 100 Benton Way. I hope you’ll join us as we continue to honor those who have served and the values that bring our community together.
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington

Don’t Toss That Pumpkin – Compost it Instead!
After the fall fun is over, give your pumpkin a second life by composting it instead of throwing it in the trash. Be sure to remove candles, wax and any decorations. If you don’t compost, the best way to dispose of your pumpkin is to place it in your organics bin. Let’s keep American Canyon sustainable, one pumpkin at a time! |
