As Halloween approaches at the end of this month, I want to remind everyone about our annual Safe Trick or Treat event and share a few important reminders to help everyone enjoy the holiday safely.
Safe Trick or Treat Event
Join us on Friday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. at the Public Safety Building (911 Donaldson Way East) for our annual Safe Trick or Treat event. This wonderful collaboration between the American Canyon Police Department and the American Canyon Fire Protection District has become a cherished community tradition.
This free event provides a safe, supervised environment where children can enjoy the excitement of Halloween. We look forward to seeing creative costumes and handing out treats to our young trick-or-treaters. Bring the whole family and visit with your local first responders!
Halloween Safety Reminders
Whether you're joining us at the Safe Trick or Treat event or trick-or-treating in your neighborhood, please keep safety in mind:
For Parents and Kids:
- Accompany young children while trick-or-treating
- Ensure costumes are bright or have reflective elements for visibility
- Carry flashlights or glow sticks
For Drivers:
- Slow down in residential areas on Halloween evening
- Watch for children crossing streets and darting between parked cars
- Turn on headlights early and eliminate distractions
For Everyone:
- Use sidewalks and crosswalks
- Keep walkways well-lit and clear of obstacles
- Only visit homes with porch lights on
The Wall That Heals — Final Call for Volunteers
Our community is hosting The Wall That Heals at Independence Park from Oct. 16-19. Although this event is fast approaching, volunteer shifts are still available for this meaningful tribute to our nation's Vietnam veterans. The mandatory volunteer meeting is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15. Contact communications@americancanyon.gov or visit our website to sign up.
We hope to see many of you at our Safe Trick or Treat event on Oct. 31. Stay safe, American Canyon!
