Hello,
I am excited to announce that the construction of the Wetlands Edge Project will begin very soon. Once complete, this enhanced landscape will serve as a key destination for both residents and visitors, offering a range of activities that cater to diverse interests while preserving ecological integrity. Some key additions to look forward to include a new outdoor classroom, a park restroom, demonstration gardens with native plants, and interpretive signage and exhibits. Check out some of the artist renderings below!
Due to the upcoming construction of this project, neighborhoods and parking around Eucalyptus Drive and Wetlands Edge Road may be impacted. For up-to-date information, visit our Construction and Development Updates page.
Last week, City staff responded to extensive graffiti at the newly constructed skatepark, dedicating significant time and effort to remove this vandalism. While the graffiti has been removed, it has caused lasting damage to our brand-new facility. Addressing these incidents requires staff to be redirected from their daily responsibilities to focus on vandalism cleanup efforts instead of essential park maintenance and improvements. To support our urban revitalization efforts and deter future vandalism, I urge American Canyon residents to help protect our parks by reporting graffiti and vandalism. Incidents can be reported to Public Works at (707) 647-4550 or online through our Graffiti Reporting Form. Together, we can keep our community clean and welcoming for all.
We must work together as a community to preserve and enhance AmCan’s natural beauty and local outdoor spaces.
P.S. Hydrant Flushing is currently underway and will continue throughout the city until all seven zones are complete!
Take care, Jason B. Holley City Manager

Our Public Works team has been hard at work on our annual hydrant flushing efforts, an important maintenance effort that helps keep our water system clean and efficient. Over the next few weeks, I will highlight the significance of this process and its benefits to our community.
Hydrant flushing is essential maintenance that clears out mineral buildup and sediment from water mains. Without regular flushing, these deposits can impact water quality, increase treatment costs, and alter the taste. This annual process helps ensure clean, safe, and great-tasting water flows efficiently from the treatment plant to your tap.
Flushing has already begun, and will continue through May until all six zones are complete. Each zone takes approximately five to seven days to finish. Temporary water discoloration is normal during this time, but rest assured, your water remains safe to drink and use. To prevent stains on light-colored laundry, we recommend postponing washing light-colored clothes while flushing is active in your area. If you experience discolored water, follow these simple steps:
- Run water from an outdoor hose bib for five minutes
- Then, run cold water indoors for a few minutes
- If discoloration persists, call (707) 647-5325
Thank you for your patience while this work is conducted.
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington

Hydrant Flushing
Starting March 18, the City will begin hydrant flushing throughout American Canyon. This essential maintenance will be completed in six service areas, with each area taking approximately 5 to 7 days. Hydrant flushing involves opening fire hydrants to release large volumes of water at high velocity. This process helps remove particle buildup in the City’s water mains, improving water quality and system efficiency.
You may notice temporary water discoloration while work is being performed in your zone. This is due to natural particles and minerals being flushed from the system. Water remains safe to use and usually clears within a few hours after flushing is completed. We recommend checking your water before doing laundry, especially when washing white or light-colored clothing.
Experiencing discolored water? Run water from an outdoor hose bib for five minutes. Then, run cold water indoors until the discoloration disappears. If discoloration persists, call (707) 647-5325.
Stay Updated! Weekly zone updates can be found on the Hydrant Flushing webpage.

Wetlands Edge Rehabilitation Project – Coming Soon
The Wetlands Edge Enhancement Project is an exciting initiative designed to create a welcoming space for outdoor learning, recreation and environmental stewardship in American Canyon. Building on the vision established by the Clarke Ranch Master Plan, this project enhances public access to nature while preserving the ecological integrity of the area.
Thanks to a $250,000 Outdoor Environmental Education Facilities grant from California State Parks, the project will introduce several key features aimed at fostering environmental awareness and community engagement. This includes an outdoor gathering space, an ADA-compliant nature trail, beautifully curated gardens, informational displays and more. The project is a collaborative effort, with vital support from the American Canyon Community and Parks Foundation (ACCPF).
In alignment with the City’s broader Wetlands Restoration Plan, this initiative not only enhances outdoor recreation and education but also promotes environmental stewardship. This project will serve as a model for sustainable development, ensuring that future generations can enjoy and appreciate the natural beauty of American Canyon’s wetlands for years to come. Stay tuned for project updates and be on the lookout for more information.
