January 28, 2022
Hello,
The City of American Canyon is celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2022! We are so proud of what we have accomplished, and we look forward to celebrating together as a community soon. Thank you to our businesses, residents, public servants, and organizations for shaping our City over the past 30 years into the great place it is today – home to an engaged and diverse community, a destination for outdoor recreation, and a hub of opportunities and economic vitality.
We officially launched our new tool to register for Parks & Recreation classes this week! Using CivicRec, our Parks and Recreation Department is making the process of class registration and park reservations easier for our residents. Our new Parks & Recreation Director, Allie Ikeda, joined our team this week. Check out their newsletter to hear from her and the team on what’s coming up in February.
The American Canyon Community & Parks Foundation kicked off the Heart your Parks month-long celebration of arts and parks this week! Check out the display of oversized hearts created by local artists of all ages at Shenandoah Park, Community Park II, and the Wetlands Edge Trail. Visit their website for maps and details of events this month to continue the celebration.
The Devlin Road and Vine Trail Extension Project is one of the City’s planned major roadway extensions to improve traffic circulation. Located north of Green Island Road and west of Highway 29, the new road will connect the Green Island Road Industrial Area to the Napa County Airport Industrial Area. This project also includes a segment of the Napa Valley Vine Trail, providing pedestrian and bicycle amenities. Today, we live-streamed a behind-the-scenes project update to show the progress, view at Part 1 (northbound) and Part 2 (southbound). The road is scheduled to be open upon project completion at the end of April.
Please save the date for our Annual State of the City Virtual presentation on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 6:30 PM. The presentation will be available via our YouTube Channel. More information is coming soon!
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

Napa Valley Unified School District Redistricting - Maps Available
All school districts in California with trustee areas must engage in “redistricting” every 10 years following the federal Census (which took place in 2020). NVUSD Redistricting is a public process that will potentially adjust the lines of our Board of Education Trustee area boundaries in order to ensure that all trustee areas continue to have equal populations and follow all state and federal laws.
Last fall, NVUSD kicked off the "Boundary Redistricting Process." Three final maps have been drawn, based on community input. The maps will be presented to the Board of Education at a special board meeting on February 3, 2022. Please visit https://nvusd-ca.schoolloop.com/redistricting, and click on "View the Three Finalist Maps Here" to access the maps.

General Plan - Housing Update
Our work continues on the update of the City's General Plan. The General Plan establishes the goals, policies, and direction the City will take to achieve our community's vision over the next 20 years. A vital component of the General Plan update is the Housing Element. The housing element is developed to address local housing challenges and find solutions to the needs of our community.
Click to watch a video in English and Spanish, which explains the Housing Element process. We will be conducting Housing Element workshops in the coming months. Community input is critical for designing the Housing Element. We encourage you to attend the Planning Commission meetings and participate in the Housing Element workshops. Click here to subscribe to updates as this work progresses.
